Ziegler put out an article today. Sometimes it’s best to not mention the connections that don’t want to be known.

BYU's reach is long and deep. I remember hearing a story about SDSU's efforts to recruit this kids great uncle Glen. Great kid and an exceptional athlete, who, rumor had it, really wanted to go to SDSU.(The LDS family was very religious but he was more of a free spirit who felt more comfortable at SDSU, rather than BYU.)The LDS temple in his home town Carlsbad included a full sized indoor full court for basketball, where on occasion some people were allowed in for noon time pick up games. One day just before LOI day there was a new person to open the gym.A very nice lady of Samoan extraction who had just been hired by the church. One of the guys identified her as Glen's mother. A day or two later Glen decided he "just had" to go to BYU.
The UT says this new recruit has a mother who already works for BYU. I know nothing about him, this branch of the family or how good he is, so this is a "post from ignorance" but 50 years of experience seeing the power of the LDS church in directing the lives of its devout members, would make this an upset for the ages if the kid would pass on BYU.(The university as a private religious institution has complete "flexibility" about entrance standards, eligibility requirements and amount and kind of financial and other aid, to athletes. It has been reported a majority of their football team is married and living rent free in very nice two bedroom university apartments and many/most of their wives find employment by the university. Those factors plus the great social pressure of having to explain at Sunday services why they didn't go to BYU, makes it very difficult for a school like SDSU to beat BYU for a practicing LDS recruit, the U really wants) This is only one of many reasons why I do not want SDSU to ever play BYU is football.Their 25 + year old OL against our kids, some still teenagers, is just not fair.I understand why Dutch needs to do a H&H with them because it is almost impossible for him to get good teams to agree to play us at home.
SDSU must think they have some sort of a realistic shot or they wouldn't give him an official visit. We can always hope.

so Dutcher usually only invites a small amount of guys to visit - Brody is one of them he accepts and then do you want Dutcher to cancel the visit because he is likely a BYU signee
By the way Zeigler has a very good write up about Aztec basketball recruiting in the Saturday UT says while Brody has very strong ties to BYU . The family is very tight with former Aztec Chad Nelson who is coaching at Carlsbad .
In addition some have said he might want to play in CA
so worth the time and cost to visit to have him come visit
Zeigler said a couple of recruits were in last week - 1 who has already made verbal commitment to SDSU the other is his AAU team mate
another maybe here next week

Aztecs looked to be locked on 4s & 5s for the class of 2024.
*Brody Kozlowski 6'7 210 - visit date 9/1-2 *Kuol Atak 6'9 195 - visit date *Pharaoh Compton 6'8 225 - visit date 8/25-26 *Miles Goodman 6'10 205 - visit date TBD *Pape N’Diaye 7'0 - visit date TBD *Thokbor “David” Majak 7'0 - visit date TBA (9/16) *Sebastian Rancik 6'10 215

correct
having gotten a verbal from a 6'5' guard earlier
Might want 3 HS players and supplement the other needed players with transfers
Dutcher would like to build a good part of the roster with HS players

I think Brody is the priority, especially given his (& their mom's) relationship with DeGourville. Throw in Compton OR Majak, and I think we're golden. We're going to need to replace anyone leaving early with experience, assuming we have to replace a Butler, Waters, etc. Some will depend on what they see from Heide and Gwath, but all early indications are they'll stick.

would guess that the priority is to get a 5 or a true PF -as part of the 3 HS players he might want to sign
Dutcher also goes for getting the best quality players he can actually get to make a verbal and then sign in November
By the way when do Fall Practices begin for basketball and when is the official early signing ( most important ) realize usually an early Wednesday in November

Transfer portal priority for next year is getting an experienced PG. High school priority is getting a 3 or a 4. Brody is a YBU lean, Compton is a SDSU lean. Compton is super talented but I definitely see him picking up a lot of technical fouls.

I didn't realize that Taj's family and Brody's family had a connection. I think Taj's family and Pharoah's family are close. Both being from Vegas... and being roommates during AAU/EYBL (or some other summer league) season. Personally, I would prefer Pharoah (I would always take a good big man vs. a good wing).

It’s not a either or situation, they would definitely both. Pharoah and Taj are very close, people though seem to think he’s a iowa lean. We definitely have a chance though and iowa has historically missed on non local recruits

did he make any comments on his first two visits Nothing I've heard, there are rumors that he wants to play in Southern California (offers: SDSU, UCLA & USC), but has some serious ties to BYU.

so he may be pretty smart and not do any comments until he is done with his visits or simply just select the school he prefers
