Nevada played bad. Does not help that pt guard is in foul trouble all game.
Referees were almost as bad as Nevada.
ASU was playing well
Combine the 3 and it leads to landslide.

It’s because the reds in the mwc call a soft crap game and when these guys get the tourney they are not prepared for the physical nature of the game. The only surprise is why you guys are surprised.

Geezus. Utah Valley University was a freaking JC only a decade ago. How does a program like UNM even think about losing to the Jackalopes, or whatever their mascot is. (Just looked it up. Wolverines. Probably named after the Marvel Comic character, not the animal.

I'd like to think UNM just was so disappointed after their collapse of a season after they were ranked and the last undefeated team, that they just didnt care about this game. But who knows

I'm surprised you don't recognize that there aren't MWC refs. The same refs do PAC-12 and WCC games, and ASU is in the PAC-12. I believe some even do Big 12 games, particularly the ones hunting pay days who ref consecutive days in a row in different venues. It should follow that ASU isn't prepared for a physical game as well, if the same refs call their games. The better question is how many referees who worked MWC games were selected to referee NCAA tournament games, and is there a foul call disparity between the average NCAA tournament ref and the average MWC game ref. |
