Just looked at 247.
Rodriguez, Johnson, Napier, Nassar, & Ratcliffe are all top 100 players in the state of California.

Correct Brady is guessing that there will be players leaving the Aztecs after their trip/Bowl game to Hawaii

There is attrition every year of 3-5 guys. Medical retirement, graduated in 4 years but don't stay for the 5th (and now Covid 6th), transfer, etc. With the portal, I would expect attrition to be on higher end.

But, saying it a success is not true either. Last year Composite Rank 247 #66. This year opening a new stadium that was supposed to help recruiting Composite Rank 247 #80.

We actually have a higher average this year than last and the highest in the MWC. 2022: 84.56 2023: 85.12

So, will SDSU higher average be better. Probably not. Also again SDSU is coming off a double digit wins, ranked, and a new stadium. They should been way higher than this.

The Transfer Portal has also changed things - especially when coaches have to make quicker improvements - coaches may prefer players with College experience
The top rated guys as usual get taken by the P5 schools and then the G5 may only take so many during the early signing time and leave room for transfers
It is a different time then it was a few years ago

For me to get hung up on is this the best, worst or avaerage class is useless. Sure you can look at national rankings as like your first five seconds of information, but it means nothing. First off the majority of reqruits never make it and will water down what may be a good class. Second the star ranking is not very accurate. So to say we are #80/85.12 doesn't mean a thing.
Take 2019 when we were #91/81.5. Sounds way worse than the last couple years. That class was Penny, Shawcroft, Tumblin, McMorris, Tavai, Fountain, K White, G Bell, Crenshaw-Dickson. That's a pretty good list.
I usually find SDSU on the list, look at the national rank, look at the MWC rank (5 seconds) then click on our list and see who looks interesting, look at some film, learn about where they are from and what may be expected. Then you're familiar with them and can follow along.

I agree with darksidereteuns. look at last year and this, Cam Thomas, Tavai, McMorrris ,Mathews were 2 stars and were much better than that on the field.

This may or may not be the worst recruiting season in 20 years, but it certainly seems to be the least anticipated or hyped. I haven't seen a single article in the U.T. for the past week about a commitment from a high-level recruit, nothing. Usually, there are several leading up to signing day. With the likes of UCLA, Oregon State, Boise State, Fresno State as well as Colorado St., Air Force and SJSU on the road, I believe that a losing season is inevitable unless they sign a high profile OC who can fix things.
