I visited a few gator boards during this season and some of those morons were actually calling for his head. Like they say, be careful what you wish for.

His resignation comes as no surprise to Gator fans. Fire or no fire, the guy brought them back from irrelevance and won two titles in three years. That alone should buy him at least a decade. Instead they're bad mouthing him and already talking replacements midway through the season. That's just ridiculous.

Of course Meyer did great things at UF. But Florida didn't fire him - he resigned. It's not a matter of giving him a decade because he wasn't interested in coaching anymore. Meyer should not have returned after resigning in January. Due to his health problems alot of the responsibilities were delegated to his staff. That approach may work for Jo Pa, but not for Meyer. Also, if you watched any Gator games, Meyer wasn't his usual self on the sidelines. He appeared stoic and removed. It was time for him to move on. Want proof Meyer lost his fire and quit on his own accord? I highly doubt he will be coaching anywhere come 2011.

Wait a second...did he re-sign or resign?
'cause if the re-signs then he didn't resign. But if he resigned then he didn't re-sign.
Like Rural his brother once said, "It ain't what it ain't."

If Brian Kelly doesn't turn things around, I can see Meyer sitting home and doing the occasional announcing gig for the next three years and then replacing Kelly at ND, which has always been Meyer's dream job.

If Brian Kelly doesn't turn things around, I can see Meyer sitting home and doing the occasional announcing gig for the next three years and then replacing Kelly at ND, which has always been Meyer's dream job. I don't know about the wording of "dream job". He's had two opportunities to go, and passed twice. But yes, I know he has said that before (about it being his dream job). The first time, Notre Dame offered him after his 2nd year at Utah. He held out, to see if he would be offered the UF job, and he was. "Sources" maintain Meyer felt it was too difficult to win big at Notre Dame, given academic constraints. Notre Dame inquired before hiring Kelly, and still....it was no. He's from Ohio, and a former Buckeye assistant. I read once that his dream job was the Ohio State gig, but I am not sure how accurate that is. I realize he was a Notre Dame assistant also. However, I don't see Jim Tressel retiring anytime soon. I agree with you, Meyer takes off for 2-4 years. Then, who knows what jobs are open.
