I think, since every game now is of heightened importance for a Wild Card spot, people are going to be more critical. I think Hader will turn it around, but he has to do it quick like, because like I said, every game right now is very important. They have been for a while now. Tonight was brutal but his career shows he can get things going. Agree though, with 40 games the leash may be shrinking. But we're going to need him. Thankfully Suarez & Garcia have been terrific lately. I agree. He's too good to give up on, but yeah, he better get it together real like or it's gonna be more Garcia, Suarez. I actually like Suarez more, but I would much rather have the great Hader back to form.

Hader hasn't been good since July 12th. That's not fair to the word "good". He's been horrible!!!
In his 11 appearances since then, he's only pitched 7 2/3 innings and has given up 15 hits and 11 walks. Throw in 5 HRs and 16 ERs and a few HBPs and you've got somebody who is completely lost.
He was falling apart before the trade, that's why we could even get him in the middle of a pennant race.

He had 2 bad outings before that but turned it around.

Melvin is giving Hader a break from closing for a little bit. Good idea.

Emmanuel Clase is the best closer in baseball now. Fun fact, he was once a player to be named later in a trade w TEX. Former Padre.

Closer by committee is now underway. Unfortunately, Hader is not part of that committee.

Slam Diego is getting slammed right now … how they react over the next few weeks may well determine whether they're packing their bags come October for a playoff series or just for going home. Not feeling too confident they'll be able to pull out of this slump, either. Another two run day. Another chunk of guys left on base. And almost another wasted pitching effort.
The slumps at the plate should be long over by now, and yet it goes on and on and on.

Yeah, don't get the gloom & doom. We'll most likely be tied with Philly heading into tomorrow, with a 2-game lead over Milwaukee while they head into LA. Our primary concern is playing better than Milwaukee, which we have done over the past 10, 20 & 30 games. Our odds of getting into the playoffs is around 64%. That said, I think some are still shell shocked from last year. But this isn't last year's team.

Like I said before, just get in there, and hopefully you're peaking, and gelling by that time. You never know what can happen in the playoffs. I like our chances to not only get to the playoffs, but to do some damage there, as well. Meaning, moving on after the WC. Our core players will come through, come playoff time. I can see Cronenworth, Myers, Drury and Bell coming through at that time with the bats, and I don't think we have to worry about what Machado and Soto will do.

And yes, they have all the pieces they need along with a little luck to make a good run. And yes, they are still The Padres… so I don't get my hopes very high. Fool me once, shame on – shame on you … but when it's the Padres, as GWB once misquoted, …you can't get fooled again.Milwaukee is currently shutting out the mighty doggers. But it's only 1-0 - just starting the 9th at the Ravine. Boozers can still easily lose this one. Dogger reliever just gave up another run crapped the mound. Now 4-0 Boozers…

The Dodgers bullpen hasn't been that impressive given the team's incredible record. The team is way out in front of MLB pitching stats with overall ERA and WHPs. But two-thirds of their Saves are from Kimbrel, who has a 4.36 ERA and 1.52 WHPs.
Even though they beat us up year in and year out, I still think we could beat them in a post-season series. If we're on, our pitching can be lights out. It's our hitters that need to wake the F up.

Yes, I should've included the Aztecs, Chargers, Rockets, Clippers, Conquistadors , Sails, … who else. LOL! (The Gulls never failed us, though!)

Thankfully I had the "One For The Thumb" indoor Sockers to root for as a kid, the only professional championships I've ever been able to celebrate! And AzDick was there in person for SDSU's only natty in '73 (volleyball)

I never saw a Sockers game, though they did manage to excite their fans better than the outdoor version!

Yes, I should've included the Aztecs, Chargers, Rockets, Clippers, Conquistadors , Sails, … who else. LOL! (The Gulls never failed us, though!) The Gulls? Folded (along with the WHL) when the Mariners came to town in 1974, then the Mariners folded after 3 seasons. The next version of the Gulls? In the IHL for 5 seasons, before moving to LA. The next version of the Gulls? In the WCHL/ECHL for 11 seasons, before the franchise was folded by the club owners--the current arena operators. No hockey in town for 8 years, until the Gulls were reborn (again) in 2015. So...you can't say the Gulls have never failed us. But they do seem to have as many lives as a cat. Which is a good thing.

I never saw a Sockers game, though they did manage to excite their fans better than the outdoor version! I think the Sockers had the highest attendance average of any team that ever played in that building--over 11k one season.

And oops--this got derailed.
My apologies.
Looking forward to Hader getting straightened out and returning to form.
