Yeah, I wonder what's going on. He just doesn't seem to have any kind of control right now. It's always a combination of factors, but coming in somewhat cold in a high stress situation having been off for a week … As soon as I saw him warming up as Hill struggles, I thought that the situation sure didn't seem like the best set up for success. But how many really are. He's just got to start making better pitches. Consistently. The fuse is getting shorter. Could be a confidence thing right now, amongst other issues.

This guy is a starting pitcher. He doesn’t have the mindset to get up at a moment’s notice, get into the game 5 minutes later and throw strikes. He pitches better as a starter, a guy who has a routine and knows when he will be called upon. The Padres need to figure this out and give him the right training routine or he will completely lose all trade value and be out of baseball.

Maybe he can be an opener. Trade him to the Rays. Then he can have a situation similar to that of a starter, but with less innings.

Then they should trade him soon while he still has some value. Lamet had a 3-1 record with a 2.07 ERA in 2020, someone may want to gamble his arm still has some life left.

Lamet had a 3-1 record with a 2.07 ERA in 2020, someone may want to gamble his arm still has some life left. Well and not just that, but unless they are a really good reliever, it's hard for them add that much value to a team because of how few innings they throw. Lamet as a 4.0 ERA reliever is worth very little to any MLB team in WAR. Lamet as a 4.0 ERA opener is worth much more in WAR, and Lamet as a 3.0 ERA starter (after a successful TJ surgery) is worth 10x what a 4.0 ERA reliever is worth. Who Lamet is right now is worth very little to MLB teams. IMO, it's best to send him to an organization that uses openers like the Rays, or have him go under the knife again and roll the dice.

Lame-T comes in and can’t do the job again. Speed is there. Location is … everywhere. What a mess.

Yet another foul appearance - two more ER in one inning. His pitching just sucks. There's really no other way to spin this, though I'm sure there are some who'd like to try… dude is toast.

As other pitchers get healthy, Lamet might not be a reliever either.

And now it appears that Lame-T will get to ride a bus to games for awhile… hopefully he takes this opportunity and gets his act together. He’s done plenty for the team, and this is probably a pretty bad day for him.

Half of the PCL teams play at elevation, so Lamet better hit his spots, otherwise the batters will hit their spots beyond the fences.
