Catcher having a tremendous spring so far. And yeah, it's spring. Who knows what happens when pitchers start getting serious about the catching the edges of the plate. But still… can he play first base? I mean, could he be any worse, offensively, than Hosmer?

He's made the team. He has no options available, so they can't put him in the minors.

It's great that he's mashing in spring, but..
Doesn't Campusano deserve regular playing time at this point? What more does Campusano have to prove at the AAA level?

He needs to work on his receiving behind the plate. The arm is good enough, but he struggles moving laterally sometimes to block balls in the dirt, transfer from the glove and some of the other nuances of catching.

Good point. I haven't been following Spring Training as I have in previous years, so I missed that little tidbit of info.

Team has a number of guys in the same boat, which is why the roster hasn't been announced yet. Twins are making a push for Chris Paddack...

The one thing about Jorge Alfaro that Padre fans are going to love is he has an absolute CANNON for an arm…..probably the best in baseball.

Is there any thought to him being a midseason or playoffs callup (even if it's just to improve the DH production)?

Has Campy really shown he can pound big league pitching consistently during the regular season?

Has Campy really shown he can pound big league pitching consistently during the regular season? He's had less than 40 at-bats.

So, there ya go. Hard to bet on a rookie's <shortened> spring season. (unless your name is CJ)

Has Campy really shown he can pound big league pitching consistently during the regular season? Voit got put on the IL, Campusano gets the call up. Campy only hit .066 in his brief ML stint last season, but the expectations are he will eventually be able to hit MLB pitching with authority. The DH may give him some extra opportunities to do that.

Could he do any worse than any of the other Mendozas right now? Throw him in there!

After playing last night's game 100°F+ heat and hitting one out, he comes back to start tonight - almost just as hot - and cranks another HR while drives in 3 runs so far on several hits.
