A Top 5 P5 team (possibly THE Top P5 team - they crushed most of their P5 opponents). Cincinnati beat Notre Dame. I don’t think cincy result is any different against Michigan and/or georgia Probably not, but once you get outside the top 5 or 6 P5 teams Cincinnati can compete with any of them. Again, they beat a solid Notre Dame team.

Cincy wasn't manhandled, but they clearly couldn't keep up the intensity needed to hang with Alabama for 60 football minutes. They couldn't stop the Heisman Trophy winner, and they struggled against Alabama's running game - which had been missing for most of the season. So something bad in the planning happened there … Cincy had a phenomenal two-year run, and it'll be interesting to see how they do with new faces at key positions next season. They've almost made it twice now - last year against Georgia - which was a really close game - and this year (not so close).
This is how a G5 team can work its way up to the top. Aztecs need to look at the blueprint carefully. No reason it couldn't be them next time.

No touchdowns, stopped cold on fourth down twice, at least 4 passes blocked at the LOS, bama ran all over them at will. It is what it is, but they weren’t remotely close to the level of game Bama has

I think there’s probably 5-8 teams that are competitive. Bama Oklahoma Georgia Michigan Ohio state Ok state (maybe) Michigan state (mayyybe) Then your fluctuating sec/acc/big10 teams like Clemson Everyone else should play in a different tournament. It’s pointless

How many teams stayed within 21 points of Alabama this year? Auburn Florida Is that it? I expected maybe 3 or 4. But that would make my point. Most P5 teams can't compete with Alabama. Cincinnati is at the upper P5 level. Not elite level, but close. A remarkable achievement for a G5 team.

A remarkable achievement for a G5 team. It’s an achievement to get to the playoff. The result was they didn’t belong there. It would have been an objectively better game if it was Oklahoma or Ohio state playing them. Unless you are a cincy alum or student that game was boring and over in the second quarter

Ohio St lost to a mediocre Oregon team, and got beat by 15 against Michigan.

But then, USU - that's Utah State - they're no Alabama and they scored 46 points. Now that's getting smoked, dude.

Cicny earned their spot, give Saban 3 weeks to prepare and he'll dominate any team on the county

If Michigan had played Cincy, Cincy would have beaten them handily.
