There is game that you just know won't go the way of our conference mates: Colorado State at Iowa. But the rest of the games are winnable, some vs cupcakes like ours and others vs lower-level G5 teams.
Towson at SDSU
San Jose State vs Western Michigan (just beat Pitt)
Wyoming at UConn (Huskies are terrible, loss would be embarrassing)
Hawaii at NM State (Bows suck on the mainland and Ags actually have some talent)
Florida Atlantic at Air Force
New Mexico at UTEP
Two conference games:
UNLV at Fresno on Friday night (bad time for a dog letdown)
Boise State at Utah State (kind of need to Broncos to stay visible, game is on CBS)

How do I remember the Eastern Illinois, the Cal Poly SLOs, the 0 for 10 UNLVs for the title, the 70-0 v New Mexico, in this our beloved AztecLand?

However, from the conferences perspective right now USU might have more of a shine on them than Boise, given they're 3-0 vs. 1-2. Kind of torn, especially when you consider that a bad conference season for Boise is always good for everyone else. I root for them in non-con, but after losing to UCF & Okie St - they really have no chance at the G5 bid even if they win our conference. USU, on the other hand, does, despite a weaker yet undefeated non-con schedule & with BYU on the docket. |

And, the loss to Eastern Illinois we faced a very good QB who headed to the NFL. Don't recall which UNLV loss you are referring too, but it doesn't matter. Under Rocky we never had a losing season, so not many coaches can claim that after being a head coach for 9 seasons. |

All we had to do was win against the 111th-rated (last in D1 at the time) team, to cap off one of the best Aztec seasons. Of course, The Aztecs played perhaps the worst game in their history, and PK Peter Holt missed a chip shot fg to end the game, and our season. IMHO, the single worst defeat in Modern Aztec athletic annals. |

I have no idea who is on Towson's roster, nor what round they might be drafted in -- much as I had not one iota about E. Illinois' roster. Garoppolo was the QB at EIU and certainly had the chops to make any FBS school scheme. Towson is 1-2 with no NFL talent. |

It wouldn't surprise me if we start 7-0 either, given that our first real test is Fresno State in the 8th game of the season. That could end up being a heavyweight type of game, with two ranked teams going at it. |

Agree with everything except that statement. SJSU will definitely be a test (ESPN's FPI gives us a 60% chance of winning), and think their staff will have things all figured out by then, and AF is never easy. Especially in C-Springs. But yes, Fresno will be the 1st game where it's 50-50 or worse and, in theory, could be the only game all year we won't be favored. |

Arguably, in Andy Trakus and Peter Holt, SDSU had two of the best placekickers on the west coast. Both were Lou Grossa nominees. But when everything was on the line, they would shank it. Holt’s kick in this game was yanked so far left it disappeared from the television screen. So glad my mother decided to never raise a placekicker.  |

Although we are listed as Home team - When we play Fresno - it may not be that far of a game for the Fresno fans to come watch the game and we have Not been able to fill the stands . Even the airplane from some of the away opponents is pretty easy to CARSON/ LAX
Do hope we get good fan support for the Conference games in Carson

We don't want to get "South Alabama'd" Oldie Out Coach Hoke at his weekly news conference did mention that this week's game with Towson would be the the toughest game for his coaches to get the team ready to play. He stated that this season more FCS teams have beaten more FBS than any season to date, and he wants to make sure it doesn't happen to his team. Also, the Aztecs have yet to play a complete 4 quarter game, and he wants improvement there. So, I'm sure he is making his team realize that this Saturday's game is just as important as the last two have been. Eastern Ill. or So. Alabama isn't going to happen this time. |
