I haven't seen this posted anywhere and don't want to elevate to a separate thread but dare I say "Trap Game" this week. Has all the characteristics, coming off a big emotional win, undefeated, hobbled qb and a game we should win easily.....Let's hope not.

Two PAC victories, another OOC W and we are pretty healthy. Ya I know JB got dinged but it doesn't appear to be super serious and we do have some depth. Can't recall if McMorris came back after the injury but good to see him back at the 1. All in all, we have a 1-2 FCS team going cross country, tune up game and then we hit conference healthy.
Speaking of depth, they put Haskell #3 behind Johnson this week. Could the kid be a quick study? Did they put him up there as they want to see him take snaps this week against the FCS? Whoever plays in the 3rd and 4th we better not go operation shutdown. You can run some backs in the flat or TE delay or whip route to the slot guy to get the passing game engaged, give your QB experience and confidence. How bout that misdirection pick route to Jones last night at the end of the third. Trips left, Jones right, takes a step right and the far side LB forgets about him, TD. That's not giving away any deep secrets. We are deep with skill guys. Give them some action. Live snaps are different than practice even when you go up against FCS.

I'm getting the feeling that Haskell isn't all hype if he's moved up to #3. That seems to be indicating who's got the job next year. Also, how much longer can Johnson stay healthy?

3 quick observations:
1. I'm never convinced these are 100% accurate - I think often coaches will just send out the same one week after week (haven't checked if this is different from last week?) 2. If accurate, very good to see Hawkins listed as a starter, given his injury last week. Same with Dunkle. My guess is depth charts ignore injuries, so Dunkle will be listed as a starter every week this year even if hobbling 3. Along the same vein, Scott is listed as the #2 BW despite not playing a down this year so he's either finally recovered or this is a holdover from weeks ago, and same goes for Aleki. He played, but not nearly as much as Lakalaka last week (& Lakalaka started).

In past years we actually listed the injured players on the depth chart. We don't do that now. But I don't think that means that it is just mail in some BS. Haskell is now at #3; for a reason. It is more...if healthy here is our starter. Can JB go this Sat? Not sure but if he is good to go he will start. The OR previously was between Johnson and Mayden. Now it is between JB and LJ. And I would be willing to wager haskell at the 3 slot gets snaps.

My take on this game is that we'll have an opportunity to work on our passing game. If we play the 1st qtr running as we usually do then we should be up by a couple of TDs. Then put an emphasis on passing from the 2nd qtr on.

does it seem that our back ups at OL are pretty young this year ? who has actually been playing among the reserves ?
also any notes which guys play on special teams ?
Key as mentioned is to make sure the coaches have the guys ready to play an opponent that is not as good as the PAC schools . Would also add that even the small schools from the SE area do get some quality players so better be careful .
With every player allowed to play 3 or is it 4 games and still red shirt - this could be a game that they get some PT IF we are playing well ?

I think we take what the D gives us. They will likely stack the box at some point, so the passing game will be there. But, we also need to wear down their DL to make the running game effective in the second half.

Backup DE Sefo Mailangi plays on ST. They must call him wheels. So funny. I saw this play like everyone else and kept thinking how in the world did he just pass everyone! Maybe he needs some time at fullback for a dive every now and then. Damn he is fast for his size!

It was an incredible run by Byrd for the TD, but it appeared that Mailangi caught up & stayed with him all the way to the end zone!!!Double Wow!!!

Until we show it on the field - we are a run dominated team - So teams are going to load the box and force our QB's to make plays to beat them .In the air or running
Plus we love to establish the run game -
We played well in the second half of the first game
Well in first half of the Arizona game
Decent in the 3rd Q of the Utah game and OT
So please try to get the offense going
