It does seem like lots more arms are crapping earlier out this season - with pitchers well represented on the 60-day IL on quite a few teams. I wonder how much last year's shortened season - one not started until well after spring training was basically over - played into this year's arm issues. That's never happened in most players' careers. I'm sure many continued on with some conditioning during the break between end of Spring Training and when the short season actually started, but pitchers - game prep conditioning? When they did start it up again there was a sprint to the finish line - and then for most teams it was over. Makes me wonder how many of these injuries actually happened a year ago. Last year's shortened season, and no minor league season.
