Gotta hand it to him for going out there every 5 and taking the ball (and the abuse).
It's just not working for him. He's still young, but I really wonder if it ever will work for him. He's got to develop another pitch - and start using it.
… count on losing one out of every five games for the rest of the season as long as they keep trotting him out there. He's not likely to get any "better" between now and the end of the season. He's already the worst pitcher in MLB since the trade deadline.
The Padres need to win games now, not in a few weeks. It's really too bad for Weathers that the league has his number and he's unable to make adjustments, and it's something he's gotta really correct this winter if he's going to have any chance next season.
I have a sinking feeling he may already be roont - as they say.

Jeebus, now Weathers hits Ohtani on the hand. I hope the guy's ok. While baseball could do without Weathers - easily - for the rest of the season, it really can't do without Ohtani.

Mr. I Can't Keep the Ball in the Park gives up another homer. Just another day on the mound…
Second HR in 3 innings. Good grief.

I’m hoping he'll get put in the bullpen once a few more starters return. Even then, I’m not really sure anyone can depend on him to come in and pitch a clean inning.

He should be in AA working on his command, but injuries have forced him into the rotation.

Paddack activated today, then I think Snell goes and supposedly Yu is healthy.
Hopefully Paddack can be consistent and eat some innings.
I don't see Weathers as having elite stuff, I think he's just decent. That being said, he's giving up dingers at an alarming rate but he belongs in AAA and he is only here because there were no other options. It's a tough situation.
Not regretting the trade, but really missing Luis Patino right now. That kid has a bright future and he's holding his own in the rugged AL East right now. Whiffing 9.2 per 9, and getting better with more experience.

On Paddack, found this a bit interesting from Eno Sarris, a senior MLB writer.
"Chris Paddack has above-average command of 3 pitches, 2 of which are average by stuff (fastball and curve) and 1 is plus (changeup). He should be an above average pitcher..but he does throw his worst overall pitch (fastball) nearly 60% of the time. He's coming back off injury to a new pitching coach, and his team really needs him to re-find himself. At worst, he's decent & undervalued".

Obviously, the Padres can't depend on their farm system for much help. Aside from a few glorified relievers, there sure haven't been many options.

He should be in the minors, but injuries forced him to stay. I still think his future is in the bullpen tho.
