SDSU drops his first D1 offer. Listed at 6'5" at 180 lbs per Max Preps. Class of 2022, Colony HS in Ontario, CA (another Inland Empire kid)

Coach Aker at Colony HS last week. Perhaps we are not done for the class of 2022. 6'5" Jaden Henley (Colony/Ontario CA) is 1 of the more underrated rising senior wings on West Coast, plays AAU for the Compton Magic.

Is this plan A or is this plan B? With Byrd being so young and he will probably grow a bit more would Byrd play the SF while Henley gets recruited for CG? Interesting option. Also wonder if getting the 3 commitments re-opens the door with Bunch the player in Washington who we would love to have. Do not know much about Henley so hopefully someone who has seen this kid play can gives us some in sight.

I wonder if this trip to Ontario was already in motion when Johnson committed. Perhaps Acker didn’t want to burn a relationship (by canceling the visit) so he stuck to the visit for the sake of optics?

I think the timing of the visit is your first clue. With Johnson not expected to announced for 2+ more weeks & no guarantees, you have to cover your bases.

I have heard a few names mentioned that would be brought in now that they have the three commitments… this is not one of them, Acker may be maintaining the relationship, you never know when you may want this guy out of the portal in a few years after he goes off for UCR or someone like that…

Do we have threads on all of them?

Honestly, I dont see a single HS player that we would go after in this class, unless it would be a "project-type player" maybe 6'8" 195 Jaret Teherán Valencia from Barranquilla, Colombia who is getting a lot of DI attention. Prep school in Texas. others w/ offers listed Jaden Henley 6'5" 180 Combo Guard Jeremiah Cherry 6'10" 250 Center D.J Dudley, Jr. 6'3" 175 Shooter Chris Dockery 6'6" 180 Wing David Dixon 6'9" 190 Power Forward I think Dutch saves the remaining 3 scholarships for transfers, or last minute HS offers ala Matt Mitchell types who deserve an upgrade. Mitchell originally committed to CSU Fullerton, before re-opening his recruitment.

A Q is the transfer from TCU - ( think it is Ledee ? sp ) more likely to play the 4 or 5 ?
also any thought on if Nathan and his family prefer him to come back next season so he could also work on his Masters Degree
Those things could affect the recruit list or the Transfer list ?

I don't think we after any HS Centers: Max Lee or Jeremiah Cherry, as we have 2 post man red shirting, plus walk on Cade Alger. I haven't heard much on Nathan coming back another. Demarshay Johnson, Jr - Freshman (Red Shirt) 6'9" 215 Jaedon LeDee - Junior Transfer (Red Shirt)6'9 235 Cade Alger - Sophomore (Walk on) 6'9 190

It looks like were done for 2022, but thought maybe we would look for a scoring wing with Che' transferring. Miles Byrd looks like he fills that spot. Henley committed to MINN, he is an Inland Empire kid.
The Star Tribune: "...The 6-7, 185-pound Henley, who also had a scholarship offer from San Diego State, was an under-the-radar talent followed closely by Gophers assistant Marcus Jenkins.
Jenkins, who recruited the West Coast on staffs at Princeton and Richmond, is from Lompoc, Calif., a few hours away from Ontario.
"He's a heck of a steal," Colony coach Jerry De Fabiis said. "He grew into his body kind of late. He's 6-7 and can shoot it and drive it. He's a throwback kid because he's coachable."
No star rating or big recruiting profile didn't bother Henley, who has the ability to play anywhere on the perimeter. He's a multi-level scorer, nifty ball handler and athletic finisher.
