I kind of want him to shut it down for the season.
Too much risk for a player that is a generational talent, and who is on a 14 year contract.

www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/padres/story/2021-08-06/adres-fernando-tatis-jr-injury-outfield"Whether the Padres move Tatis to the outfield this year remains to be seen, but what was apparent Friday is that they are seriously considering it. It has been something they mulled previously. They intended to move him there in 2020 if they had been able to trade for Francisco Lindor in the offseason. And some in the organization have expressed the belief it is more likely Tatis ends up in center field than that CJ Abrams is moved there. The Padres’ top-ranked position prospect was trending toward making his major league debut late this season before fracturing the tibia in his left leg and spraining his MCL in early July, and the Padres are now hopeful he is on the major league roster at some point in 2022. Tatis’ move to the outfield could simply be accelerated."

when Hosmer is gone he should move to first base like his father before him.

Same could be said for shortstop. He's hurt his shoulder that way before. They dive at shortstop as well, trying to get to balls, a lot. I'll just be happy when he's out there again, at ANY position.

I'm more concerned with him running into the wall - which knowing the way he always plays balls out, you know is going to happen.

I think he has the chance to hurt the labrum more when he extends himself on a dive, but no matter where he plays, I'll cringe whenever I see him leave his feet.

As someone who followed Griffey & the M's during his entire career, I have visions of Tatis's body breaking down just like Griffey's with the cleat getting caught in the wall to shoulder injuries diving to tearing a hamstrung straining to catch a ball. Playing CF is not for the faint of heart, and RF isn't always a cup of tea either. And as many have said, the times he's injured himself have been a) swinging and b) sliding. Not sure how moving to CF or even RF changes that?

They just resisted the temptation to do it last year because the season was just so condensed. Ease up there, FBI.

You are definitely a real piece of work, and kind of snide too Sorry that your clout took a hit? It was a joke. I don't think you're an FBI agent, truthfully. By the way, the team is still 50/50 on moving him out there. Could resume playing shortstop, depending on other circumstances (Myers playing injured, Kim going down to Triple-A, etc) - It's complicated, unfortunately.

when Hosmer is gone he should move to first base like his father before him. That would be a huge waste of a very good Defender. He would be an outstanding Defender in the Outfield.

When he comes back he will either play in the Outfield or Frazier will play in the Outfield. The Outfield is overwhelmingly our weak point on offense. We have five infielders who each hit better than any of our outfielders. Tatis in right field or center field solves that problem. We can sit the outfielder who is not currently hitting, that is currently Pham.

You occasionally rest him, but doubt we see him sitting that much. When he's going we'll be unstoppable.
