Need a new thread, so curious what you guys think of the Pham/Grisham switching between batting 1st & 5th depending on the match-up? Personally I like Pham leading off consistently, with Grisham 5th or 6th, but get the rotation.
When you look at their splits there isn't much difference, but Grisham tends to do better batting 5th while Pham does better batting 1st than he does 5th.

Trent's in a funk right now, but I don't mind him against righties in the top spot. Tommy's patience and discipline will play pretty much anywhere.

At this point, I'd rather Pham get the extra AB/game than Grisham. If Pham begins a regression, then switch. As mentioned, they're almost the same at the plate.

I think Pham should definitely be leading off. He works the counts great and has that knack for getting on base like a true leadoff hitter should. Grisham's not a bad alternative though!!!

Pham in a little slump, going something like 4-27 with 4 walks and 9 strike outs in that span. I'm sure he'll be fine, but we need him to be a catalyst for this team consistently.

The Padres have someone for that situation with Frazier - but it'd be better to see Pham get back on track. 0.100 BA for the past week doesn't cut it. Another ofer tonight. The regression is on.

He hit the ball really hard his last 2 ABs. Not worried about him. He's a professional hitter. Still hope to see him leading off against lefties.

Grisham hitting below .200 for the month of July. More strikeouts than hits. 1 HR, 1 two- bagger. That's not what you want from your starting centerfielder. He's trending down, and probably needs to take a seat on the bench at this point.
Move some players around, get Frazier in there every day. And keep looking for another bat in the outfield.

Pham is in another lull right now. Needs to get it going!! Another 0-fer. Not helping, but the catch that might've gone for extra bases helped. Still, move him out of the #1 spot. His regression continues… Myers could spend some (more) time on the bench right now, too, though Marisnick isn't any better, and doesn't appear to have any kind of power. What I just heard about Grisham being a little on the sore side today after that HBP yesterday answered a few questions. I hope he doesn't miss any time. He was just starting to see the ball well again after his abysmal July.

Hosmer's mashing right now and playing good D so keep him in the lineup for now.

Pham has a FA year to play for right now, so he really needs to look his best. It'll be interesting to see if the Padres hold onto him or not.

Pham had gone into the tank again, it appears Yep, he's something like 7-40 so far in the month of August. And, for July and half of August he's something like 27-128 for around a 211 batting average. Hopefully he snaps out of it soon. We need him getting on base.

Pham had gone into the tank again, it appears He was 2-4 with 2 doubles and another hard hit ball last night, and had another solid hit tonight. Hopefully he's coming out of it.

According to news reports, he’s having trouble dialing in his contact lenses…

According to news reports, he’s having trouble dialing in his contact lenses… Myers in LF in place of Pham tonight. Myers has good career numbers in Coors Field. Hope Wil the Thril adds to them tonight.

According to news reports, he’s having trouble dialing in his contact lenses… Myers in LF in place of Pham tonight. Myers has good career numbers in Coors Field. Hope Wil the Thril adds to them tonight. I get it, but I hate to see Pham sitting right now. He looks to me to just be starting to get it dialed in & may have figured out his contact lenses finally. He was only 4-15 during the series, but with 3 doubles & had at least 2-3 others that were hit very hard & could easily have been hits (1 that Marte barely caught on the dive). But Grisham & Hosmer have been solid of late, and you can't sit Frasier or Crone so the choices are limited right now. Hopefully they figure out a rotation that doesn't prevent either Pham or Myers from getting on track. At least our bench is much deeper, and should only get even deeper when Profar gets activated.
