Think it's worthwhile to mention in its own thread exactly what we're seeing in some proper context...
Fernando's current WAR/162 pace would be the 5th best season by a shortstop since 1900.
His 185 wRC+ would be the 4th best mark by a shortstop since 1900.
His slugging percentage currently is the best mark since 1900 for any shortstop by nearly SEVENTY points. Seventy.
He's pacing for 50+ home runs and 30+ stolen bases, something that has never been achieved by anyone, regardless of position, in baseball history.

It's a long season, and though he's a Jr, he hasn't proven to be like Cal Ripken, Jr when it comes to durability.

But on a related topic I sure liked it better when he was sliding in feet 1st when stealing! Every time he goes headfirst I cringe.

Only Ty Cobb has led a League in home runs and stolen bases. Currently Fernando is leading in both in the National League.

Fernando becomes the youngest player ever to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases by the All Star game.

40-40 club here he comes (but please slide in feet first!)! Soriano, A-Rod, Bonds & Canseco is a pretty elite little group if he can get there.

That would be much more difficult for the Fernanda to do this season. Probably with the rise of Ohtani and Vlad. Then again, in Cobb's day, balls that bounced over the fence counted as home runs, parks were massive and there were a fraction of the players in comparison.

They should have a machine that pops out a ball in dead center field whenever a ball goes over the fence. That ball would be live. That would definitely make the game more exciting.

Tatis has certainly put the Padres on the map. I turn on the TV and suddenly the Pads are in highlights and on commercials. The franchise is no longer invisible.

Injury history comes back to bite again tonight. Hope it's not serious, but he's still out for tonight, and with the Padres behind 8–0, they will miss his bat.

Well, he goes to the 10 day IL, and who knows if that will be enough. Apparently, yesterday's injury was a little more significant than the last one…
Paddack was also sent to the 10 day IL. Strain of the oblique or something of a sort... Crismatt sent to Texas and Marisnick added to the active roster.
Diaz and Knehr also got called up. Looks like another BP game on the horizon.

Fernando's 1,000 career plate appearance will come tomorrow in his first plate appearance in Colorado. All he's done in his first 999: 264 hits, 45 doubles, 8 triples, 72 home runs, 193 runs scored, 172 RBI and 50 stolen bases.

EDIT: Never mind--it looks like the fewest games played in a 162-game season to win MVP is around 110. Tatis has already missed about 25% of all Padres games this season. Theoretically, I suppose it's still possible. But can Fernando stay healthy long enough?
