To me he was always so young looking on the sidelines, like he was more of an student-coach rather than the Head Coach. He is the winningest coach in UCLA history with 151 victories. He passed away of cancer on Sunday. We played his UCLA teams in a 10 game series from 1984 to 1993, and lost every game. The closest we came to victory over them was probably our first game in 1984 played at then Jack Murphy Stadium. We lost in a tough defensive field goal battle, 18-15. Our defense kept Terry's offense out of the end zone, and they just had a kicker with a better leg to help them win it. He was happy to win the game, but very upset that his offense was not able to get into the end zone at all. The Bruins lost one very great man, one I admired for the respect he gave to everyone. He was all class.

He was a terrific coach, his teams always played well in big games and usually handled the Aztecs pretty convincingly.

IIRC TD became the head coach at the age of 32.

I always like him as a coach and a person.
