I understand Tingler is worried about the long haul of the season and keeping players fresh is important but my oh my, these athletes are in the prime of their lives, making literally, hundreds of millions of dollars and they're being coddled like they're made of glass. Both Machado and Tatis were taken out tonight with the Padres losing 7-0 in the 7th. Are they REALLY that fragile?

Given how much time both have already missed due to injuries why wouldn't you think they're fragile? It's a long season, during a brutal stretch. You have to play the long game. I'd rather see them missing 2-3 innings every once in a while than being forced to miss games, so if you have the opportunity why not take it? Players are dropping like flies all around the league.

Fernando's not making hundreds of millions this season - He's making one. Both guys have had multiple injuries this season, including some pretty serious ones - Manny's shoulder and Fernando's shoulder, for example. Short answer - It's not about being fragile, it's about being smart. Injuries are up over 30% across the league.

Please rest Tatis and Machado whenever the smart opportunity arises.
