Speaking of soccer in San Diego, what's the latest on the Chargers (hate saying the word with Spanos still in charge) former facility up the road from the new Aztec Stadium site? It sure seems like it would be a great soccer training center for an MSL or NWSL club. Actually, that was part of the Soccer City offer. They wanted the facility for that very thing.

Well we do it, but since we're at end-stage capitalism, only rich kids and poor kids with financial aid can attend private schools grooming you for D1 and further and also afford all the private coaching and lab science work outs that get you corporate-backed combine or mini-camp invites. They're strictly grooming for their national teams while ours has the pro career track in mind. Not as bad as going back in time when the Eastern Block countries of the late 50's - 70's used Fitness academy's for Fitness Assessments on children at young ages to see what they were dealing with. They were doing VO2max testing and Lung capacity testing (aerobic capacity testing) to separate out potential endurance athletes, muscle biopsies to see muscle make-up (fast twitch vs slow twitch) for strength and speed sports, Bone scans for growth potential (growth plates positions) and stuff like that. Then came all the PED's that are still not fully known about. This is what changed kids from a future of hard labor in the factories to being made into Olympic athletes. Talk about motivated athletes Yup. Motivated. Just like in the U.S. where a poor kid can either be discovered thru the events private corps set up like camps & combines and if they're not good enough...a life of hard labor with declining purchasing power.

Soccer in the US is just starting to realize that if it wants to compete internationally it needs to set up Prep / Academy Schools to develop soccer . Basketball has done this - has young kids going to Prep , Private or .... to develop players .
So US needs to do this to get better Soccer players . So Womens National Team could lose to Academy Teams .they are definitely quality teams and have become the starting point for guys wanting to play on the US Mens National Team . Go look at the ages of the current Mens team .
