Since Preller loves to makes a lot of trades, I thought that I would outline some potential areas of need for the Padres:
1. LHP Bullpen Arm: With Hill as our only LHP currently in the pen', this could be a useful spot to get some more relief depth. Hopefully Pomeranz comes back and this is less of an issue. Still, a lot is riding right now on Hill's shoulders as both our high leverage guy and our only LHP.
2. Starting Pitcher: With Weathers and Lamet's workloads strictly managed, it might be beneficial to get a starter/swingman. I'm not sure that Gore can really fill this role unless he makes some significant improvements in his command in short order. Will Weathers and Lamet be managed well enough so that they will be able to pitch in the playoffs, or will they get shut down before the postseason?
3. Bat: With the underperformance of the Padres offense this year (as well as the rash of roster injuries), is it time to go get a position player that can rake? Adam Frazier is a name that comes to mind. Is Abrams ready for the big time, and is he an upgrade? Where does Mateo stand in all of this?
Who do you think the Padres could go after at the trade deadline?

Prices are going to have to come down at some point.

I believe it was Lin in the Athletic this weekend speculating they might need to move Campusano in a trade if they want to land a Gallo or Bryant type.
