Baseball. Just one problem after the next. And the nexus of almost all of them is cheating… (Batters should be allowed to drill their bats and drop in some nice springy steel as long as pitchers are allowed to sticky-glue the ball)
$40 tickets and $15 beers … not sure the pitchers are the ones doing the worst of the cheating.

Springy steel? All you need is cork. Or super balls.

Any would at least help even the odds of the ball going out … batters still have to basically swing at a ball they can't see and make solid contact.

The worst of it is MLB not enforcing rules they already have in the rulebook. Adding more rules (which they don't enforce) won't do anything.

The results have been astonishing. Some of these pitchers have been Baseball Bugs like, sporting sub 2 ERAs and absurd WHIP totals. Yet another rash of statistical anomalies, as now pitchers are hacking the rules of the game.

First base - Bugs Bunny, Second base - Bugs Bunny, Shortstop - Bugs Bunny, Third base - Bugs Bunny, Right field - Bugs Bunny, Center field - Bugs Bunny, Right Field - Bugs Bunny, Catcher - Bugs Bunny, Pitcher - Bugs Bunny … During off season, I was on a pickup team in college. We called ourselves the Gashouse Gorillas …

Curious how this happens when fresh balls are put into play nowadays every time a ball even slightly touches the dirt? I saw one 8 pitch sequence that included 7 new/fresh balls. Pitchers would need to keep a TUB of goo on them to scuff after every single pitch. While there may be some of this I don't think it's as bad as some believe. Science does come into play, and pitchers are getting better educated on the science of spin rate, among other things.

It really doesn't take much - Most guys will have the substance on the inside of the glove, either in the webbing or in the heel. Bauer's spin rate on his four seam fastball was down 225 RPM's yesterday.

Another game of Whack-a-mole … Since the "juice" is readily available in the dugout for batters, pitchers don't really need to keep a tub of it on the mound. A little dab'll do ya…
