No...I was a Charger season tix holder for 10 years (88-98). But, once the Chargers left, I not only quit caring about the Chargers, I quit caring about the NFL. I'll watch the playoffs and SB (mostly for the commercials), but don't think I have sat through a full NFL game in the past 4 years. Same with the NBA. MLB is really about the only professional sport that I have an interest in, and that is only because I went to my first Padre game as a 10 year old in their inaugural year of '69. If it wasn't for the Padres, I would feel with MLB like I do with the NFL and NBA. Love Tatis, Jr., but $340 mil to play a game...sorry can't relate. Rich owners who beg for cities to buy them a new house ain't getting another dime from me! I know, that wasn't your question. So, no. When the NFL left town my interest in the game vanished. I haven't seen more than 30 seconds of any NFL telecast in nearly five years. The pleasant surprise was discovering how little I miss it. Not at all, really. There are lots of things you can do with an autumn Sunday besides sit in front of a TV.

I'd welcome the Chargers back - if they first kick the whole Spanos gang to the curb, and build their own stadium out in, realistically, the East County boondocks somewhere.
Maybe they can team up with one of the East County Indian casinos (if the NFL approves).

To answer the question, no. I have yet come across an article or story or anecdote where it was a positive experience for a college football team to "share" a stadium with an NFL team. In fact, you will hear the most preposterous and painful stories when it comes to cohabitation. If and it is a big if, the chargers came back it would be in their own venue. Secondly, the Chargers do not need a 65K seat stadium. They only need 50K. In LA they only need 10K for Charger fans and 30K for the other team's fans. Hell, they even had to tarp seats at Dignity Health park.

no as it'd again ruin the stadium size, making it too big to fill

You know its summer and nothing is going on when charger threads appear on aztec mesa.
As long as spanos owns the team, they will never be in san diego.
Unless you know a billionaire that will oay a fortune to buy the team from spanos and then relocate the team to san diego and throw a billion dollars down to pay for a new stadium then threads like this are pure fantasy like harry potter or santa clause or easter bunny.

It would depend on the price of tickets. If individual game tickets were under $10, I'd welcome them back. If tickets were over $10, no way.

A stadium would need to be built somewhere near the bayfront before the NFL considers bringing it’s circus back to San Diego. Until then, my interest in the Chargers and the NFL is almost zero.

The Chargers are in LA for at least another 18 years. Spanos can't sell (without a waiver from the NFL) for at least 8 years. Were we to build a stadium, the North County would be a better option than downtown. But, we are not going to build a stadium for the billions the NFL would want. Spanos was was given damn near anything he could hope for in the last dash for Mission Valley. He turned that down and went for the $1.8B deal breaker downtown that he knew would never be approved. He didn't want any team in LA if it wasn't the Chargers. Now, he is a laughing stock in the NFL and his team has no support in that town. Spanos is the Donald Sterling of the NFL. When they allow fans back, his team will never have a home field advantage. Also, he completely screwed Kroenke over by not pushing for more funding in PSLs - because that money would have gone to offset the cost of the most expensive stadium in the world. He has no goodwill left among his peers and he has created some powerful enemies.

We will get an NHL team before a NFL stadium is built and SD gets an NFL team. And we will never get an NHL team!

You elucidated the reality better than I could have. Thanks
