A bigger blunder was having Mercano at the plate with bases loaded… as Tommy'd say, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He's a 21 year old being pressed into service with injuries. I'm not going to fault him for not being able to get a hit on 3-2 against the best pitcher in baseball. He doesn't belong in the bigs right now. Period. Sure, don't fault him, but why is he there in the first place? Pressed into service? Is he really the best "next man up" If so, the Padres might start thinking about some trades. With the frequency of injuries already this season …

Reinforcements coming! Pomeranz returning at 100% would be fantastic, for this depleted corp of arms.

He's well thought of in the organization and he's on the 40-man roster. Myers is playing hurt, Grisham is out, Pham isn't healthy, Profar has been completely unplayable....At some point, you run out of depth. I think we have already seen that El Paso isn't full of options. Also, with the quarantine rules in effect, you can't call someone up from a league other than AAA right now. It's not as cut and dry as most think - They don't have a ton of wiggle room to promote guys.

Hope he keeps it up.

He's not ready for prime time either.

What happened to Jorge Ona? Seemed like I heard somewhere that after his surgery he could be back in 6 - 8 weeks. That was at the beginning of May. When did the Padres put him on the 60-day IL?
