Two guys that don't get enough praise and compliment each other well. Cronenworth has the third lowest swinging strike rate in baseball at 3.8%. (That is ludicrous, FWIW) and Grisham has the third lowest chase rate at 17.3%, behind only Max Muncy and Juan Soto. Grisham's under contract through 2025, Cronenworth the same. Really nice duo, in a pair of quality trades by AJ Preller and Co.

Grisham is also one hell of an outfielder. Has some of the best range I have seen.

Jake is my fave Padre by far. He plays the game the way it should be played!

Jake is my fave Padre by far. He plays the game the way it should be played! He and Ryan Weathers just look like baseball players - or at least the ones I played ball with. They play with great gusto. The kind you either have or don't bother getting out of bed in the morning … Wish nothing but the best for them in their futures. Hopefully the Padres will treat them right when the time comes to do so.

Cronenworth goes inside-the-park today. But...I have to feel sorry for Blackmon in RF. Dude is playing hurt, and it showed on that play.

Sure did, and his double he had yesterday should've been three. He's still hurt.

Cronenworth is right-handed so the center fielder may have been somewhat in left-center field but I still think he would have been there if he started running over to back up when the ball was hit.

Crone is a lefty, not a righty. The CF should have been shaded towards right.

Something caught that ball just before it went out. It dropped and pinged off the upper part of the wall out there. Blackmon really never had a chance as the ball bounced right back over him - and hard, too. I'm pretty sure he thought that ball was out. I did.

It was a really stupid play one of many by the Rockies in this three-game series. He had no chance of catching it. The only way he would be involved in the play is if the ball bounced off the wall. His positioning was not with that in mind. And the center fielder stood and watched the play. He should have been backing up the play by running to the proper spot. If Gresham was the center fielder it could well have been a double.

If Gresham was the center fielder it could well have been a double. It would have been a triple for many major league players. Cronenworth always runs full-speed. The night before he hit a long double and rounded second like he was going to 3rd before pulling up. He really hustles.

Crone is a lefty, not a righty. The CF should have been shaded towards right. Except he isn't a traditional pull hitter. What side of the plate the batter hits from isn't the key - It's the direction they hit the ball most frequently. Only 26% of Cronenworth's contact is to the pull side.

If Gresham was the center fielder it could well have been a double. If Blackmon was healthy, he holds Jake to a triple. Blackmon can't run full speed right now. Regarding the Rockies--they are a bad team right now.

It's not like the Rox have any chance of making the playoffs this year - do they not have a single RF prospect they can bring up?

Blackmon has been one of the worst rated defensive outfielders for multiple seasons now. He's injured, yes, but they signed him to that extension and he immediately responded by becoming the worst center fielder in baseball from a defensive metrics standpoint. The farm system in Colorado is a barren wasteland.
