My problem with scheduling Missouri goes back to 1979-1980. We lost to them at Missouri in 1979. They were scheduled for a return game in San Diego the next year. Sometime between seasons they just announced that they had scheduled someone else and were not coming to plan the Aztecs. I've rooted against them ever since.

That was back when the Aztec Curse was alive. I just blamed it. Yes you’re right. That was near the tail end of it. I remember Teddy saying on the post game show that this has been happening for decades. It did strike again in the UNC game. Yup. Decades of moral victories. We're in a Golden Age where we beat P5 schools especially Pac 12 schools.

We lost on the non "block in the back " call. They could use that video to show what a clip is in Officials School it was so blatant. It can’t get any more obvious than that.

Was Chad Bunn working for Mizzou that day? The ref who’s job was to watch the sideline was working for Bunn when Jose Perez was plowed down in the back right in front of him. Incredible. We may still have lost the game though but that would have negated their TD catch. I’m not sure how much time would have been left. That I remember was their last play, and if we had held them we would take over with only seconds to go and could runout the clock. I know that was a play that we all hate to see happen, but it is just a part of college football. Don't let it consume you. We are not the only school in the nation that has lost a game due to a missed/bad call by a ref. It has happened to every college at one time or another. We have to get over it and move on.

Can somebody tell me the upside of playing Missouri ? Certainly its better than playing USD , but do we really get anything from the pollsters or recruits by beating Missou? I'm not even saying its a win , just saying (to me ) it's a yawn. I'd rather play the worst team in the PAC 10. Or is this a payday game? Not trying to be snarky , I get OSU,MICH,ND but this game does nothing for me. Maybe I am missing the intrigue.

I get it isn't Bama or even UGA, but the SEC is still the SEC. Any time a MWC school beats an SEC school it's huge... Also...beating them will attract some SEC fans to watch SDSU, even if it's just for this game. Once they see their conference mate losing to a mid-major on the ticker when their game is up, they're gonna fljp over to see the upset. Just like fans of other P5 schools, you & I do when we see a MWC about to beat an SEC school, you watch. It's not like they're gonna all go out and buy Aztec gear. But, SDSU just put its product into a ton homes for the first time.

We complain when we play Sac State, we complain when we play Cal Poly, we complain when we play <insert name>, now we are upset about Missouri. Come on, this is a good game for us. We can potentially beat an SEC game and I am sure recruits will notice if we beat them. I, for one, like this match up and we seriously owe them one. You are probably just messing around and overall this is good for our program.

I would target Tennessee. Get a 2 for 1. Their fans travel well out here (I was at their game against UCLA in 2008), they aren't adverse to scheduling MWC, and they are one of several beatable SEC teams in a given year. It would make an electric atmosphere at AWS -- and a tough ticket.

That is were Stark went so he would not have to deal with the Stadium issue. We had to go bring JR back. So lets beat them. We did not allow them a first down the first have and should have beat them at home. I was there. They did not want to play us in SD the next year.

You must be confusing Mizzou with another team. We did indeed play @mizzou in ‘79. Lost 45-15. I listened to the entire game out by the pool at my apartment complex on Rolando Court. Maddening game. Mark Halda threw six — count ‘em, six! — interceptions. Had it not been for so many INTs, we’d might have won. Seriously. It was the first game of the season. We went on to roll through 8 of our next 9 games, beating UofA, Miami and Wisconsin along the way until the final HMS Titanic game against BYU. Mizzou came to San Diego in 1980. I distinctly remember that game because it was a 10 am kickoff, which was brutal because of the Santa Ana heat and the wicked hangover I was sporting. Oh, and we were drubbed something like 36-13. Never had a chance.

We may be confused in regard to the cancellations. Ted Tollner went to Lawrence and beat a bad Kansas team. Don't remember the score but Tollner began subbing in backups early in the third quarter.
The coaching staff was fired and the new coach looked at the schedule and saw SDSU on the schedule for the return game in Qualcomm. He told the AD to mail SDSU the $50,000 cancellation fee.

Kansas has been bad for decades. Everyone can beat them, even my old High school.
