Diaz game 1 & Darvich game 3, but uncertainty (yet hope) in the middle. Just hope a Monday bullpen day doesn't set us behind on Tues/Weds.

Baez game 1 & Darvich game 3, but uncertainty (yet hope) in the middle. Just hope a Monday bullpen day doesn't set us behind on Tues/Weds. Diaz tomorrow. Off day on Thursday means the bullpen should be fine. Hopefully the bats can get going against a suspect Pittsburgh rotation.

Just looked up Diaz's last MLB outing, he was the losing pitcher for COL in that epic comeback game @ Coors. He gave up 5 ER in the top of the 12th to the Pads.

The loser was Jairo Diaz for the Rockies. But Miguel Diaz did give up 5 runs in the 6th inning of that game. Almost 3 years ago.

No wonder the profile pic looked wrong to me, heh. According to ESPN those 5 ER in 1 inning in that game is the last time Miguel Diaz pitched in the majors, is that correct?

Guessing he is well rested.

And it showed - great outing by him and the pen (yet again). Looks like Weathers to start tonight (finger's crossed).

PS. Lamet is actually starting today! Again, would expect Weathers to be backing him up, since I'd assume he's on a limited pitch count.
Guess all the Dr's on this website who determined he was done flunked their arm-related medical tests?

It remains to be seen how well he'll do. But at least he's well enough to go today. It just sounded last night like it might be Lamet because of the way Tingler was talking - we need a few more medical answers, etc. While it could've been either Weathers or Lamet, and perhaps it was both - Lamet gets the call. So it'll be interesting to see what they do with Weathers.
Stay tuned…
…annnnnnnd here's Weathers!
Looks like a tightly managed outing for both. Lamet pitches two innings an throws 30 bullets 2/3 of them strikes. So good news in that respect.

I'd expect the same combo on Sunday.

Given the off days I think we could see the Lamet/Weathers tandem at least 1 if not 2 more times, and that's not a bad thing. Very different guys, so like the way it sets up.

Definitely going to be a problem in the longer term. We need length out of both guys individually to help offset the pen having to pick up a boatload of innings. I'm not convinced Dinelson is anywhere near healthy.

I think that we have to do that tandem a few times. It's a long season and Weathers is a young arm. In order to avoid shutting Weathers down before the postseason due to an innings/workload limit, and to avoid injury, it might make sense to do this more often. Maybe use Weathers as a swingman with some long relief and some starts.

Again, leaving runners stranded. Horrible. We have the second worst runs scored average at home with 3. Come on boys!!!
