Poor Snell, sent to the 10 day DL. Must be one whopper of a belly ache. Or are they just avoiding having him pitch on the road … ??

Not surprised to see him out before the 5th (again). While he pitched a shutout, lack of control (again) was a big issue, and probably what earned him an early exit. (again)

I didn't think he'd be 100% today given whatever he's dealt with health wise since his last start was cancelled. Those intestinal bugs take a toll, even on pretty athletic guys - well, maybe not Ken Caminiti… but that's another story.
Snell wasn't horrible today by any means, and he'll be at home for the next start. Hopefully home-cooking and a friendly crowd will give him some energy to go farther into the game.

Snell was scheduled tonight, but probably just as well he doesn't pitch since that's been nothing short of disappointment so far.
Time to call in the nemos: Reiss Knehr come on down… maybe the good news is that the cRockies won't know anything more about him than the rest of us. Sometimes these guys can sneak in and sneak out with a win.
Padres relief staff really needs the ASG four days off, but even that won't help much if they don't start getting some good, reliable innings from starters, and really soon.

Knehr struggled, but wasn't exactly picked up early by his outfield play. He left trailing by 2, but it really could have been worse.
Miguel Diaz. Oh my. VERY impressive tonight.

Diaz looked great tonight. Knehr didn't look horrible, and I'll cut him some slack due to most likely a big case of the nerves since it was his first Big League start.

Snell showed a lot by battling back in the fourth inning today. And at least he showed he could bear down and regain some control after the mini-mess he made of the 3rd. I'd call this outing progress, even though it feels like he should be much farther down the road to being dialed in by this point of the season…

Which Snell will we experience today? Sure hoping it's the one who keeps the ball hopping and pitches with purpose …

Overall, a very good, quality outing for Snell. This is exactly what the Padres needed from him today as well as moving into late summer. It's also what Snell needed to build some confidence.
Even if Adams shitz the mound, as it's likely that he'll do, it's a "win" for Snell today.
They dodged a bullet.
A win's a win.

A sub 2 ERA and barely over 1 WHIP and it's likely he'll $#!+ the mound? Uuuuh, OK.

Gave away two last night - after loading the bases. Yeah, it was likely he was going to $#!T the mound.
His statistics weren't throwing the baseball. Or apparently they weren't listening.

He allowed only one earned run last night. Relievers aren't going to be perfect on a daily basis. His numbers speak for themselves.

He hit all of 2 batters in his career before this season, but this season, he leads all of MLB in HPB, with 15. And yet, he is still getting guys out (when he isn't hitting them). I mean, his WHIP is a career-low this season. His stats just seem weird.

His numbers speak for themselves. 1 inherited run (from 2nd) + 1 ER of his own, while leaving the bases loaded. You can't deny he had a horrible game and, to quote, "shitz the mound". I think the hit batter may have threw him even further. It doesn't mean you don't put him right back out there on Saturday if needed, given his overall history. But his wildness is definitely a concern in crucial situations, and not sure I would have had the faith to keep him in against Marte after the way he was going. Pagan saved the day, and it's the same way with him. He'd "shitz the mound" in his last outing, but you still don't hesitate to put him back out there as well. Definitely don't get perfection with anyone, from Crismatt to Melancon.
