After all the clawing back, it's the freaking closer who closes it for the other team. Worse than a blown save, not his first troubled outing over the past few weeks. I hope he didn't already hit his apex… he's one to watch. Because Trevor Hoffman he ain't. This is a loss that hurts, one that shouldn't have been… I mean, are we really comparing him to a Padre all time great hall of famer, and saying that he's not good enough because he doesn't match up to him?

Good workman like outing for Joe Musgrove tonight. Ate up innings, kept batters off of home plate.

There will be no No-No tonight, and hopefully Musgrove doesn't spit the bit in the first inning …

He's going to have to be perfect since the Padres aren't putting together good ABs tonight (again). Machado AND Myers thrown out at the plate. In the same inning. Good grief.

Joe ended up shaking off those first two hits in the first inning and pitching a 7 inning gem. Maybe his best since the no-hitter. 11Ks - two-thirds of his 91 pitches were strikes. (Another) Great night in the major leagues for Musgrove.

My first game at Petco in two years - great to watch Joe live. Granted it was vs. the Rox, but Joe looked like our current #1.

None of these supposedly elite pitchers can beat the D-Bags. What a horrible start for Musgrove. Absolutely nothing. Down 5–0 in the first inning.
While the Arizona pitcher gets his own no-no. Congrats to the rookie.
Strahm hops out of the Padres' pitching clown car and keeps the party going for Arizona.
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future…

Can't beat the home plate umpire -Jerry Meals on Wheels - LOL. And of course he's presiding over a ridiculous strike zone.
Time for Robo Strikes and Balls™; leave an umpire behind the plate for other calls, but leave the balls and strikes to a robot. The technology is here now.
At least it's not affecting Joe too much: 4Ks in 2 innings and better than 2/3 of his pitches for strikes so far (well, Meals' strikes).
Just a little less than 75% strikes after five innings. He's dealing.
Tonight was an exceptional outing. He completely dominated the Angels.

Looks like Joe is not going to repeat his last few outings, lots of pitches out of the zone, and one just left the park.
Ugh.

After a somewhat inauspicious start, he tightened it up and the offense finally lit up the opposition.

Tough when you pitch well enough to keep your team in the game, and your team just doesn't want in the game … a bunch of flailers at the plate so far.
Very disappointing to keep seeing such a lack of offensive support.
… it's incumbent on upper management to make some tough decisions about this when the season's over. The Padres may be in the same division as LA and SF, but it's clear that they are not in the same league…

Wow. A 5 run lead. Musgrove is getting settled in, so I hope he gets some good short innings tonight.
Should make it much easier for him to challenge the hitters tonight.

Not tonight. LOFL
First batter up … And THERE it goes!
Second batter … Take your base.
At least he kept Posey off the bases.
Here we go again.
Third batter up … Hit to left center.
Fourth batter up … Let's load the bases!
Luckily, Brandon MVP Crawford hits into an inning ending double play! Just like he planned it!!

Mighta been 5-1 if Joe had just stayed put on 2nd… well, he's paid to pitch, not to hit and run bases. (and he's done his share of both tonight)
Instead, it's 5-4 Giants.
