What am I missing..why aren't the Aztecs being tracked. I haven't heard of any Aztecs going into the portal. Maybe, HOPEFULLY, that's why.

What am I missing..why aren't the Aztecs being tracked. The incoming transfer thread is in the recruiting section. The outgoing transfers are in this thread. SDSU rarely loses transfers out, with exceptions: Joel Mensah & Ed Chang. Plus the RS guys like Giordano, Frederico, Perez who us the scout team to launch other DI, DII or NAIA opportunities. This season, so far so good. Dutch is clearly not looking to over pack the team with scholarship players as he has used a 8-9 man rotation, and sometimes 10 this season. He's looking at talent, skill set and chemistry. Need to balance those things.

Correct me if I am wrong, but given the addition of Trey and Josh coming back, technically we could have up to 15 scholarship players? Dutch wouldn't do this of course, but that's a lot of guys and minutes to manage in a system that plays 9 guys a night.

Correct, but Dutch has never had more than 12 so I'd think 13 is tops, with 1 potentially RS'ing (D Johnson).

I would like to see him get 8-12 minutes a game this year.

But yea, that makes it tougher, but realistically I don't see him playing more than Che Evans did this year.

Che' is competitive and a gym rat. The thing that hurt him this year was his defense, perhaps missing his senior year and surgery left him further behind. But Rivals had him as a top 50 SF. I hope he gets a shot. As far as a post player, wouldn't we like to see Nate and Josh on the floor at the same time, during stretches. Otherwise the only thing that would allow for DJ to get minutes if he doesn't RS is fouls or injuries

I really don't care if DJ sees the floor much. He's extremely raw & needs a year of full development before being a contributor in close games. In the meantime he can earn PT in blowouts & if both Josh & Nate are in foul trouble, which we're trying to avoid.

Marcus Williams of Wyoming, the MWC FR of the year, is in the portal. BIG loss for the MWC and Wyoming, who was expected to be greatly improved this year with a really good young core. Hope he changes his mind, but this is a strange year! They basically handed him the keys to an improving team in a good program & he's still bailing.

This kid just moved from UNLV to Fresno State SDCoug What are the MWC rules on inter-conference transfers? MY question to coach Hut, how many 6'3 to 6'5 guys can you put on the floor at the same time?

MY question to coach Hut, how many 6'3 to 6'5 guys can you put on the floor at the same time? If he's on scholarship, then the current rule states you must "achieve a year of residency" (i.e. sit out) & you also "lose a year of eligibility". However, when the NCAA changes their transfer rules the MWC has proposed removing losing a year of eligibility so he would just have to sit out a year. It's my understanding they're not going the extra step to remove the redshirt requirement. Looks like he was basically UNLV's 12th or 13th man last year, despite being recruited by a few good teams. Maybe a RS season will be good for him.

REALLY good get by Hutson, and glad we can help him out by going harder after Bradley! We hear a lot of chatter about CSU returning their entire starting 5 & being really good next year, which is true. But Fresno returns their entire starting 5, adds an elite shooter, and were just as young & inexperienced as CSU. CSU won 5 more conference games, but the gap between the two teams moving forward isn't that huge.

Figured this was worth tracking. Post updates and I'll try to keep this first post current. AFA: Boise State: Ray J Dennis CSU: Fresno: Nevada: Zane Meeks, Kane Milling, Robby Robinson New Mexico: Bayron Matos, Keith McGee, Isaiah Marin SJSU: UNLV: David Jenkins, Caleb Grill, Devin Tillis, Edoardo Del Cadia, Donavan Yap, Jhaylon Martinez. Isaac Lindsey Utah State: Wyoming: Kwane Marble Almost as many leaving UNLV as from all other MWC schools combined. That's a lot. AzWm It would be tough to be the UNLV coach right now.

Great facilities, support & in a recruiting hotbed. He's added 4 P6 transfers. Their biggest loss is losing Diong, but I'd expect them to fill that with a pretty good transfer.

UNLV Loses another one; 4-star 6'11 260 Center Jhaylon Martinez. Martinez had trouble seeing the floor because of his lack of fitness. He may have RS as a result. Funny he says he "Chose UNLV to be a part of something great"

Ex UNLV Reb, Caleb Grill calls UNLV’s fan support brutal!!!“The fan support out here is also brutal. I get ruthless (DMs) from fans all the time that expect a little too much of us because they went to the Final Four in the 90s. They still expect that every year." Its a wonder coaches and players don't want to be in Vegas and are still living 30 years in the past. theoffensive.vegas/2021/04/13/caleb-grill-calls-unlvs-fan-support-brutal/

6'8" SF/PF Moses Wood leaving Las Vegas too. played some quality minutes at UNLV coming in from Tulane Univ. I counted 7 guys leaving UNLV and in the portal in the last 5 days. That would be Hamilton (NBA), Grill (Iowa St), Jenkins (Utah), Diong (TBD) Yap (Fresno), Martinez (UC Riverside) and now Wood.
