2021 will be a huge transfer year for the Aztecs and MBB in general given the Covid-19 extra year of eligibility and the no-sit rule enacted. Therefore, I have started a list of Transfer's with interest and hopefully a few offers, should spots open up after March Madness
Tari Eason 6'8 215 Freshman PF from Cincy - Aztec interest 46% FG, 24% 3FG, 57% FT, 6 RPG, 1.3 BPG, 7.3 PPG

Sure would be nice to do more than 'talk' and 'show interest'.

Tari Eason 6'8 215 Freshman PF from Cincy - Aztec interest 46% FG, 24% 3FG, 57% FT, 6 RPG, 1.3 BPG, 7.3 PPG I watched some of the Cincinnati/Wichita game and Cincy had a strong core group of freshman that looked fabulous, including Tari Eason who is dripping with potential. I thought that Cincy would be a contender in a few years. Today, they're all in the transfer portal - Cincy has 6 players in the portal! Also, I should mention that AG's brother, Akol Arop, has entered the portal from Univ of Nebraska. He was lightly recruited earlier and not sure if there's any Aztec interest but...

6'1 190 lb Shooting guard out of Kentucky. Played two seasons at No Kentucky, then two at Western Carolina averaging 17.7 in 2020 and 16.9 in 2021. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4067444/mason-faulkner Faulkner scored in double-figures 19 times this past season, and 20+ points eight times. Named to NABC All-District Team, and was an All-Southern Conference Third Team honoree. Looks to be a solid scorer who can shoot, plus get to the line.

Any Jalen McDaniels or Malik Pope type transfers out there? Long, bouncy forwards that can make open 3's and grab rebounds?

Also, I should mention that AG's brother, Akol Arop, has entered the portal from Univ of Nebraska. He was lightly recruited earlier and not sure if there's any Aztec interest but... I just noticed this too and was going to start a separate thread, but this works. I wouldn't be surprised if he pops up on our radar here soon. omaha.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/creighton-prep-grad-akol-arop-transfers-from-nebraska-basketball/article_2b948a94-859f-11eb-b52e-c3876b661dbf.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter_OWHbigredAkol Arop, an Omaha Creighton Prep graduate, is leaving the Nebraska basketball program and entering the NCAA transfer portal, a team source confirmed to The World-Herald. Arop missed the entire 2020-21 season while recovering from a knee injury. He’ll have three seasons remaining of eligibility. As a freshman in 2019-20, Arop played in 21 games, averaging 1.0 point and 1.3 rebounds per game. He played at least 20 minutes in NU’s last three games of that season, but chronic problems in his left knee prompted a surgery in early November. Arop needed six months to recover from it. Arop was All-Nebraska at Prep during his senior season, averaging 19.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. He signed with Nebraska in November 2018.

I hope we set our sights VERY high with transfers. There will be more than 1000 eligible players who can transfer this year, and frankly we need players who are better than our current projected starters if we hope to be in the Top 25 next year.
There have to be a lot of very good players who might want a free scholarship year of graduate school at SDSU.

would say the Aztec Coaches have tried to get some high quality transfers but unfortunately have not always been able to convince them to sign here . We did not get the bounce/ PR that had been hoped for because of the lost season IMO that would have really helped . Got T-Go and JT - decent but Not as good as we needed
it may seem obvious to many of us but it is still difficult for the staff to get the highest tier or transfers

Well we have been a top 16 team each of the last 2 seasons so the coaches must be doing something right.

We were a top 10 team last season but did not get the opportunity to show it during MM last year since there was not MM . The transfers we got did not get any where as much PR as we would have gotten if we would have played and had a deep run Not as much national time to show development of some of our transfers yes Malachi did well , but Yanni and even KJ did not get the press we would have hoped for and even Dutcher as Coach of the year . Hurts the Mid Major schools schools more then P6
.We did not get the high tier of transfers that we would have hoped did seem to get 3 quality freshmen but only 1 got decent amount of PT.
Seriously doubt we get ranked in the top 25 this year after the loss in the very first game unless the Orange get to E 8 or even better
So recruiting could be challenging again this time . We are fortunate Dutcher comes back and hope we keep the other assistants . Also not sure how much of T-Go's comments about how he loved the players but not exactly enthused about the coaching staff gets played by schools competing with us for recruits .

The guy that started at PF for our best team ever was a transfer who played like one D1 season as an 8th man averaging 6 and 4. So some want to take what he helped build and use it to justify raising recruiting expectations to such a superficial level that were we to sign another just like him, y'all'd say we aren't bringing in good enough pieces?
Wouldnt be me
