Come on down, Laddie. X Thames and Malachi Flynn came down from WSU and got drafted as PGs. Jalen McDaniels came down from Washington state and also got drafted. You can too.
Join the parade!

The 4-2 star PG arrived in San Diego today for a official visit.
From SDUT-9/1/2021 Johnson is a 6-2 guard from Seattle who will spend his senior season at Wasatch Academy, a prep school in Mount Pleasant, Utah, that is part of an ESPN-televised national league with basketball factories like Oak Hill, Sunrise Christian, La Lumiere and Montverde. A four-star prospect ranked as the nation’s 78th senior by 247Sports, Johnson is a combo guard equally comfortable running the point or as a primary scorer.
“An explosive athlete who can overwhelm the opposition with his length and quickness defensively,” former Gonzaga star Dan Dickau told SBLive in an evaluation of Washington state’s top prep players. “The thing I liked most the first time I saw him play was his ability to change speeds and directions to create space and get where he wanted on the court. He plays with a calming presence that rubs off on others.”
Johnson won a state title with Seattle’s Garfield High, coach by former NBA player Brandon Roy. His list includes Arizona, Washington, Washington State and Clemson, although the Aztecs are considered the front-runner.

Johnson is friends with Jaden (Washington) and Jalen McDaniels (SDSU) and has offers from Washington & SDSU. I haven't heard a thing on his visit, but it sounds like MBB had a productive practice today.

Being friends with the McDaniels has got to be a benefit. Sometimes I wonder if Jaden had come to State instead of The Huskies if he would have been a better player. Got drafted so it still worked out for him although probably lower then he wanted. On the video he was breaking ankles out there. Good movement and being good defensively would fit in perfectly with us.

Doubt he'd be a better player (that's all individual talent & dependent upon their own work habits), but he would have had a better college season which in turn would have lowered the doubts about him (i.e. maybe he goes 5-10 spots higher in the draft). He'd have been forced to be more disciplined, and wouldn't have had to create as much. Really like this Johnson kid, and in theory the gap between him & Butler/Dinwiddie would be perfect & with Trey & (most likely) Adam leaving he has to see getting PT being in his favor here. That'd be the case at UW & WSU as well, but like our facilities & staff over both of theirs. If we can get 2 of the 3 primary targets were after, Johnson being one, we'll be in great shape!

6'0", 6'2", 6'3"? Someone is either growing or there is some interesting measuring going on.

Maybe it depends what kind of shoes he was wearing ? Plus we know guys seem to enjoy having the taller size listed for them
would be great if the guys got measured without their shoes so it was a little more reliable

Basketball roster measurements are the sports equivalent of the classic fish tale.

Basketball roster measurements are the sports equivalent of the classic fish tale. Mitchell was apparently measured at 6'4 1/2 prior to the draft, per Zeigler.

Good comments about Johnson, would be a really good addition. Defensive minded can create his own shot, good mis-direction which allows him to get to the paint. Me likely. Now get me a big body dude in the post that can shoot as well as not get pushed around and we will be set for a while. I really like the three players that we are looking at this week and say the big boy, Lee we would be set moving forward.

If Saunders says yes, then the Aztecs will pass on Lee, if Saunders passes on State then the Aztecs will push hard for Lee.
