MLB just announced they are adjusting the baseballs to favor (“slightly”) pitchers and keep the HR spike under control.

Just going to casually drop this here... Nice find, Ryan. Do you know yet if there will still be a different ball for MLB and AAA than for the rest of the minor leagues?

Just talked to Kyle Glaser - No determination has been made yet. (Baseball is laughable sometimed) - Stay tuned.

If I play a fantasy league this year, I’m loading up on front line starting pitching early.
MLB will probably overcompensate and some pitcher(s) is/are going to have a 1.14 ERA with a .80 WHIP.

I seriously doubt that happens. Home runs are good for entertainment. It is likely someone, Bieber, DeGrom, Cole, Bauer or maybe even Lamet has a sub 1.50 ERA this season. Statistical anomalies always happen when MLB tinkers with the game. New strike zone, raise/lower the mound, different baseballs, The DH, allowing/not enforcing steroids, inevitably leads to Bob Gibson, Denny McLain, Babe Ruth, Mark McGuire/Barry Bonds. History doesn’t repeat itself, but it tends to rhyme.

Finally got the answer you were looking for, aardvark.
AAA will use leftover 2020 MLB balls (juiced) before transitioning to the "new" ball.
AA and below will be using the "less lively" minor league ball.

The new MLB ball, the old MLB ball in AAA (until they all get used up), and the less lively ball in AA and below?

They will use leftover balls at the AAA level for a handful of weeks, I would guess. Then AAA uses the deadened ball from there on out.

Many of them happen when the league tinkers with the game or the rules. Causality and effect. It is amusing when you disagree with a statement, you use your own narcissistic opinion as the deciding criteria.

My opinion isn't narcissistic, it's based om conversations I've had with baseball industry folks. This isn't Bob Gibson in 1968. I don't believe the changes will be all that dramatic. The seams will be/have been adjusted, but I don't see any pitcher breaking the ERA record over 100+ innings.

www.espn.com/mlb/stats/player/_/view/pitchingThe early results are in and the pitchers are dominating. 27 starting pitchers have a sub 3.00 ERA 25 pitchers have a sub 1.00 WHIP 4 no hitters have already been thrown and DeGrom is sporting an unreal 0.68 ERA after 8 starts! See, I told you so.....
