He was the best physical specimen the league has ever seen but not even close to being the best basketball player.

He was the best physical specimen the league has ever seen but not even close to being the best basketball player. Definitely stretching it by saying not even close. Amongst all the other things he did great, he had a lot of assists and he could run up and down the floor.

I think with today's skill set training, more discipline (I mean 10,000 women would take some time away from prep.!) etc.. he would be in today's game as well. However, he would be tested a lot more by today's players...and it did seem like the 6'9" Bill Russell did get the best of him on many occasions.

I think the rest of the Celtics also helped Bill Russell "get the best" of Wilt back then.

Also, remember that Wilt the Stilt would also have all the facilities and training methods that are available to him today. Can you imagine if Wilt the Stilt only concentrated on basketball in this day and age? Let alone cutting back his conquests to maybe a few thousand. Lol

I think it was really late in Wilt's career, but Kareem did face him a few times. I think Kareem in his prime more than holds his own. I think Shaq physically gives him some problems..and I think he does not embarrass the Dream in his prime.

Yes, a few of today's players would give him a run for his money, but it would be interesting to see how much his basketball skill set would have improved if he played only basketball and had today's facilities,, training and year round basketball. 😮

yes...but all I could find was 6'6"..which for an athlete like that is pedestrian. I understand the western roll was not the flop. He obviously only did it a few times..do you find a better height! I'm only 5'10" and went 6'2".

I saw a video of him jumping and he goes over effortlessly..not even trying really.
