I'm curious to see if Mitchell goes off for 20+ tomorrow. They are going to get lit up from outside if they don't stay close to their man on defense, if Gomez doesn't do it to them Schakel surely will, and Mitchell is very good at winning in isolation looks. I predict that we win either with a barrage of 3's, or Mitchell going off for 20+ I actually think Mitchell ends up being more of a facilitator than scorer going up against a guy like Smith, unless he can draw a few fouls. That could be the toughest match-up he draws all season. I just hope Matt can stay out of foul trouble. 3's will definitely be critical!

Pullman was not supposed to be a scorer last year. Both guards in front of him were supposed to be as well as Mitchell, Wetzell and Schakel. But he had a nice drive and floater in the lane type of game. I expect him to be a bit more involved in scoring this year simply because he doesn't not have Flynn and Feagin on the team but if he is used to set up guys like Mitchell, Schakel, Gomez and whomever steps up in the front court he doesn't have to score points to be effective. I think the fact Pulliam was selected along with Jordan to speak at the pre-UCLA presser says a lot about him as well. Think he'll take on a leadership role & be the main ball handler. I really liked what I heard about Butler as well - gives us that 2nd true PG who's capable of stepping in, most likely as the 10th man. He did well as a JC transfer last year, that isn't an easy transition. He also knew his place and that Flynn and Feagin were the featured guards. Both he and Seiko have some experience and we are going to need that, I like what I hear about both Butler and Dinwiddie as well, but this is going to be a hard year for freshmen given the limited practice time and pre-conference games. I don't think both redshirt given the back to back schedule that has us staying a weekend at altitude a few times. I recall once reading that Che can play the 2 but, again, a lot to ask of an incoming freshmen, one who has been out of competitive play for over a year, no matter how talented he is. This will definitely be a different team to watch this year.

Can't recall if its during the presser or in Dutch's show, but Jordan raves about Butler, and Zeigler said some good things about him in his article Tuesday. He'll be the 10th man most likely and could work his way up, but I doubt any other FR get much PT.

I thought it was just for those who were playing last year.

Some may not want to go over the 13 player scholarship limit financially, so may not want some seniors to return, and others may not want a bunch of 5-year players interfering with the typical recruiting cycle.

I don't see Mitchell coming back but Pulliam and Schakel may seek to.

would think that any senior that thinks they can start making money( and needs to ) in a Pro League will be gone . Others who knows if they think it will better their chances for playing in a Pro league .
Also important some of our younger players will want to see if they will be an important part of the rotation for next season . Remember that the vote could be coming up if players can transfer next year and not have to sit a season . Could be very interesting for the players and coaching staff .

Schakel comes from an academic family, I seem to recall he was majoring in accounting so he may place a higher importance on education than other athletes. Pullium had one year of "big time" basketball playing in front of large crowds and, who knows, maybe the opportunity to have one additional year will be attractive to him. Same can be said of Gomez. But, all of them will be able to play pro ball abroad and make some money next year if that is what they want.

Both of JS's parents are college professors. I beleive that at least one of them has a PHD. His family places a very high value on education.
He is a good candidate to become an academic All-American.

There is this thing called "grad school."

There is this thing called "grad school." Also this thing called the G league, which he can do while being in grad school. Jordan's not a G-league guy IMO. He could play overseas though, so it'll come down to playing even a larger role here next year vs. earning money internationally. Yanni said he would have thought about staying and weighed the two option if given the option. Jordan's said he'll think about it after the season. Unless someone is in their heads there's just no way of knowing. Gomez & Tomiac would be going after a 6th year - not a lot of kids are into being in school for 6 years no matter what the circumstances.
