It's possible that Dutcher will try to get a transfer or 2 willing to redshirt a year (remember the new immediate eligibility rule). Not a bad idea but I don't think there is any possible chance that is realistic. I'd be surprised if there was one such player in the entire country. Yea, definitely unlikely. BUT, it's now more likely to happen than it has been recently due to the new transfer rule. In the past you didn't want to RS because you'd want to save that year in case you decided to transfer down the road & had to sit. You'd miss a 2nd year. Now you don't have to sit when you transfer (if 1st time), so you can sit as a true FR & still have the freedom to transfer in a year or two if things don't work out. The downside to that is a teams may spend a year to develop a player, he may play 1 year then decide to transfer meaning you developed him for someone else to reap the benefits. But for SDSU, which rarely has transfers, that's less of a concern. I think if it happens it'd most likely be for a big, like AAA who's a project, or someone coming off an injury & who misses summer ball/early practices like a Che Evans did this year (although he doesn't have to RS). But these days it's going to take some convincing. Ultimately I think Dutch only signs 2 HS kids (1 more; possibly 2 more max if someone RS's) in this class, and fills what he has to via the transfer portal. And I doubt we go beyond 13 total on scholarship, including any seniors taking a bonus year. That's already 1 more than Dutch has had every year.

craziest of all the years of recruiting - With guys being able to stay an extra year , possibly change the No Sit rule , some HS players not being able to play , normal Grad transfers , having more then 13 on scholarship, .....
sure changes recruiting and figuring it all out for the 2021-22 season

Without looking it up, who's the Canadian recruit that Dutch gave a shout out to today in the interview with the Toronto station? Couldn't mention him by name, but made sure the kid knew we were thinking of him and that we love kids from Canada.

He just received offers from Kentucky and Illinois
the situation at Creighton with their coach could have caused him to reconsider his commitment there

Hopefully, he can see that a big combo guard could get minutes next year at State.

There is Seiko as well. It seems unlikely that he would get many minutes next year unless Pulliam and Gomez leave.

He is physical like Butler, but with better hops, he can get into the lane amd dish amd can shoot.

He is physical like Butler, but with better hops, he can get into the lane amd dish amd can shoot. I just watched film on him for the first time. Our team is incredibly deep at guard for next year with returning players, so I assumed that he would have no chance next year. That being said, after watching him play, yeah he would earn minutes. TyTy has a great 3 point shot, with James Harden-esque step back 3's in his arsenal and 25+ feet. Combined with his passing and slashing to the rim, he is a very talented all around combo guard. I disagree that he is more athletic then Butler. Butler has elite quickness and can dunk at 6' 1". TyTy has a bigger body and is great at finishing at the rim. They are both very athletic.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm0j3JILUB0Very impressive film, TyTy looks like an elite prospect. That being said, #28 black team also looks very talented, and plays with a J. Franklin like edge to him (Devontes Cobbs, Class of 2022). I came away from the video also very impressed by him. He's a kind of under the radar, long and athletic guy that might be interesting to look at for next year's class.

Also, beautiful shot with comfortable range to about 28'. Him with Butler and Dinwiddie is an incredible offense + defense. Throw in Mensah and a mix at PF - would be better than our team this season. T-Go, Pulliam, and Seiko add veteran experience and leadership...TyTy is the missing piece.
Can you imagine throwing alley-oops to Keshad and Demarshay???

TyTy will pick a P5 Blue Blood caliber team. Dutch & Staff will be watching hundreds of hours of tape on the NCAA transfer market. Many more transfers due to: +1 year of eligibility from covid-19 and the no sit rule. Tough year for HS seniors who didn't play full seasons and AAU ball, fewer scholarships for bubble guys.
Aztecs likely to pick up 3 transfers to fill Mitchell, Jordan and a third opening. Assume 2 of 3 seniors return. Not sure about Josh, who will be done with school and lives in Spain. However, we could benefit from another year. Trey & T-Go would be nice to have another year of. They are making their mark now.
Nevada has already signed two 4-stars: 6'6 195 wing Addison Patterson from Oregon and 6'11 245 center Will Baker from Texas. Nevada will be over the limits, so look for some cuts. They could be real good next year.

My guess because it's SAT AM and I have nothing else to do...
T-Go is back next season. He found his confidence this week too...been waiting all season for that.
Pulliam too but he will lose his starting role and playing time to Butler. He has to weigh how that will appear for his prospects of getting paid to hoop in some obscure foreign league. To get time he will have to learn to play aggressive and shoot without hesitation - his 2 biggest flaws.

Just depends who puts in the most work in the off season to keep improving. As it should be.

do we also add where will Dutcher be coaching next season ? How well do the Aztecs do in MM . Plus as noted what happens with the Covid rule of an extra season for all that want it .In addition the transfer Portal of players . Going to be crazy - Do hope they have a set rule about coming or leaving for players . Also Dutchers decision going to need to know that as early as possible
I think Butler stays but wonder if numerous guards stay or we get transfers does K.D come back ?
By the way was the No Sit transfer rule put on the back burner ?
Wild times

He cemented his legacy here already, stuck it out as being Robin to Fisher's Batman for years, makes $1M/year in the most beautiful city in the USA, and people think he will leave because of a clause he added for "just in case" so he can go make $2M in sub-zero weather where he would be learning the recruiting circuit with his friends of the past 20 years still here?
Sure, money is nice but what if he turns into another mediocre MN coach like Richard Pitino who had more legacy help than any coach could possibly have? He's back to the $350K gigs and it's a net negative.
