www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecsI was able to read the Aztecs pages after deleting the cache and cookies. However, it seems this option is no longer working. Solution besides subscribing for the 8-week or 1-year digital access?

Ding ding ding...Ziegler crams alot of truth into this sentence: "It’s not the kind of harsh truth you can say without fear of public shaming in states where the coronavirus goal posts keep moving — from managing the virus by flattening the curve so the healthcare system isn’t overburdened to eradicating it completely with metrics based on case numbers no matter how many are asymptomatic or false positives from overly sensitive tests." www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/sports-columnists/story/2020-09-30/college-football-san-diego-state-sdsu-aztecs-big-ten-pac-12-sec-covid-fall-season-tv-contractThe only thing I would add is the case numbers are based on the % of positive tests, which obviously doesn't reflect the true infection rate, because not everyone in society gets tested. The head of the CDC has said the true infection rate is likely 10 to 24 times higher than the positive case rate - which lowers the actual death rate to a bad flu season. And in fact it seems strange to me for someone with no symptoms to spend the time and money to get tested in the first place.

I had not heard the "10 to 24 times" estimation before, but I had heard "up to 10 times" before. Using the multipliers you mentioned, that could put the infection at a number equaling more than half of the US population.

I finally gave in and subscribed. However prior to that I had multiple browsers and found I could read 10 articles per month on each browser.

I'm sure it matters to her greatly what the exact death rate is.

But that could be said of anyone who does, the death rate from “said reason” doesn’t matter to someone who dies from “said reason”

Aug. 18, 2020 -- The COVID-19 pandemic has spread so rapidly since the first U.S. case was reported Jan. 20 that it’s now the third-leading cause of death in the country, Thomas Frieden, MD, former director of the CDC, told CNN. "COVID is now the No. 3 cause of death in the U.S. -- ahead of accidents, injuries, lung disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and many, many other causes," Frieden said. The CDC says heart disease and cancer are the first- and second-leading causes of death. The coronavirus has caused more than 170,000 deaths in the United States and has been taking more than 1,000 lives weekly for several weeks, Frieden said. "Last week, Americans were eight times more likely to get killed by COVID than were Europeans," he said. The number of deaths -- and cases -- in the United States may be undercounted because not enough people are tested, experts have said.

I finally gave in and subscribed. However prior to that I had multiple browsers and found I could read 10 articles per month on each browser. I used to game the system like that too - but it was really annoying after a while, so I finally gave in as well. I set my preferences to delete specific cookies on exiting google chrome; in this instance, setting it to delete the union-tribune cookies on exit. Thus, if I reach the 'subscribe' block, I just close out Chrome and reopen it, then go back to the desired UT article. Works every time.

I ended up getting a years subscriptions because I got tired of working the system. I figured for roughly $100 I was helping keep someone employed in what seems to be a media on the verge of extinction.

It's really not that difficult to understand if you try.

Nope... according to the researcher at Stanford that is not correct, because many of the folks would have passed this year with something else being the 2nd and or 3rd Comorbidity... would have happened anyway... all very sad stuff and a very sad situation for all in the US and the world...

If you're referring to the antibody study from April, that has been debunked as totally inaccurate.

I don't doubt that's the case with some patients, but many, many more people live for years with congestive heart failure, renal disease, diabetes, etc. Things that Covid can cause to go "boom".
