So everyone could have bitched about the up keep, delaying construction on our new stadium and most importantly to spend a fortune on a dinosaur so we can play our home games there without any fans.

It is not too late. I have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. UNLV survived without a parking lot at their stadium. Murph forever!

Yes we should have redesigned it instead of tearing down history and memories, but it is too late. Everyone wants new stuff.

There was way too much to do to make it a football (and soccer) friendly facility. See what was done to the stadium in Miami to get rid of the baseball-hosting capability, and turn that place into a much better football facility. It also cost in the neighborhood of $350 million to accomplish the changeover. Any remodel here would have involved probably demo-ing one side of the stadium or the other, and rebuilding the new seats much closer to the field--along with probably removing the entire upper deck. SDSU is doing the right thing.

It wasn't supposed to be a football only stadium. It was a multipurpose stadium, jack of all trades - master of none type. The swiss army knife of stadiums. Exactly what smallish city needed in the late 60's/early 70's. I have a lot of fond memories going there, especially practicing my driving in the ginormous parking lot.

The new one should be a better experience. I remember the car races held in the parking lot.

It was beyond its useful life unfortunately

Absolutely NO reason to keep that monstrosity. Tearing it down won't suddenly erase our 'fond memories'.

Heard from a reliable source that when the time comes for demo, the stadium is to be imploded by sending in a robot to flush a toilet.

The $#!+ Show will start as soon as people start seeing ticket prices for the new stadium, and then realize there's no tailgating either....The days of cheap Aztec football experience are over. Don't get me wrong, I want a new stadium as sdccu is a complete dump. I just think it's going to be interesting since most Aztec fans I know are cheap...

Yeah it's going to be a much different overall mindset for me I think. I have season tickets but a lot of my friends don't, so I'd get random big groups to go with me and they'd buy tickets a day or 2 before the game (or same day) and we'd all just sit wherever we could sit together. I love how casual it all was.
Now its going to be much more of a full day event that I plan more for since it's going to be a much bigger expense and I'll just have my 2 or 4 season tickets and not be able to have the groups of friends go. I'm beyond excited for the new stadium but I'll miss the old way too

With all that green grass that the only enforcement can be no fires? How are they going to stop someone from tailgating? And if there is a fear of losing it, isn't it upon the fans to start talking now about logistics for tailgating with the heads of Aztec Club, the Alumni Board, and the athletic department? Silence won't solve your concerns. Obviously it will be less space, but The Grove is 10 acres, and we would need maybe a quarter of that total. Also, on the SDSU Mission Valley site is this photo below. I point your attention to west of the stadium, looks like there is some area identified. Perhaps we should verify throughout the construction of its continued tailgate designation. Yes, tickets are going to be more expensive. We all knew it, we should not be surprised. I am very curious to see the non-premium prices, and lowest priced tickets. With the seating being vastly improved, I am going to wait to see those prices before I make a decision.

I have a feeling that those parks on the west side labeled "TailGate Parks" will be prime parking and no room to tailgate. I would like to see some type of set ups down on the parks on the south side (recreational fields) use for tailgate LIKE gatherings kind of like a lot of Universities do with catered parties with different villages or themed areas. I understand that people are going to want to tailgate/party like they use to but I think those days are over and we will have to come up with new ways to celebrate pregame. This is San Diego and we will not have to worry (much) about weather. The biggest factor will be getting in and out of the campus and surrounding area and that will dictate how this area will be used for tailgating.

Not sure, and not trying to toss a "Turd in the Punchbowl", but I believe the Park spaces at the south end are the property of the City. So Not sure they could be treated the same as the other Universities have done with open spaces near their stadiums. I hope I am wrong (It wouldn't be the first time.).

You bring up a very interesting point hopefully SDSU can continue the relationship they have with the city and allow for things like this to be worked out (I know easier said then done?)
