Changed the thread name, now that its official ********************** The December 5th game between St Louis and SDSU has been postponed until next year. The Aztecs lose another NCAA Tourney caliber game. ASU, BYU + Diamond Head Classic still TBD.
The NCAA allows a maximum of 27 regular-season games, which means nine nonconference dates if the Mountain West plays an 18-game schedule and seven if it plays 20. The conference’s coaches recommended that they stick with 18, but there has been no formal announcement.

I think with all the bubble opportunities that look like they’ll be coming up, the Aztecs may end up with more high-level games than they had on their schedule before. One can always hope.

As stated in the article about the MVC v MWC cancellation this year it was done for a reason. That weekend is a PRIME weekend for several of the potential bubble sites. It sounds like Diamondback is happening, but in Orlando. They just haven't confirmed dates, nor if every team is participating. Hopefully the BYU & ASU games happen, and this year they stick with the 18-game conference schedule. I doubt they move too quickly on that, instead choosing to wait until they see how the bubble sites & non-con scheduling in general starts to proceed.

I just hope that most of our games are played on the weekend. Playing random games on Monday or Tuesday at 8pm is pathetic.

It's unlikely there will be fans, or many fans anyway, so what time they play this year to me is irrelevant. Whatever can maximize the TV contract IMO, and the more games to watch during the week the better.

Little doubt the games against P6 teams are very important - Has PAC said if they will allow MBB teams to play in November or Dec - Could be some interesting games .

If the PAC 12 ends up being the only P5 football league not playing, I'd be shocked if BB doesn't change their minds and start up like everyone else on Nov 25.

They have said they're considering late November early December, and that was before the NCAA set the start date. They'd be idiots not to start on the 25th.

1,000 Covid cases and counting, Matt Soria's job is hard enough to schedule strong OOC Home games. A bubble looks pretty good these days.

Luckily the total # of cases on campus doesn't impact how healthy 15-ish kids are in practice or for games, given there's little interaction between the gen student pop & athletics. Plus, its months before we play at home. Every one of those 1000+ will be long past quarantine by then, and few will even be around when the season starts. That said, the kids will definitely need to be diligent & not fall into the "I'm invincible" trap. Hopefully we'll have Rapid testing available before practices even start.

These games won't be played in front of people. So, firstly, what does it matter when it is going to be played? I understand when everything was normal, people hated those Tuesday/Wednesday games. However, in this scenario where fans won't be attending, and/or we will possibly be playing in a bubble somewhere, a tuesday or wednesday match will be better. There will be less sports to compete with than on the weekends. Tuesday/Wednesday games would be perfect during COVID. Also, playing Monday at 11:59pm is better than playing not at all.

The inter-conference challenge will now take place in 2021-22 and 2022-23, and the leagues have the option of extending the contract further.

Don't count on the PAC 12 not playing football this season. They have seen other schools & conferences already playing and enjoying being able to finally get out there and play. So, there are many in the PAC wanting to do likewise, and they may start up before too long.

I just hope that most of our games are played on the weekend. Playing random games on Monday or Tuesday at 8pm is pathetic. Not likely. You do realize that basketball has many games (about 30 or more) and they usually play anywhere from 2 -3 a week, so that means you will see more games during a week. If, they only played games on weekends it would drag out the schedule much longer than they want. Even though they are going to keep it to 27 games it still is more than 2 and a quarter more games than a football season.
