Brett McMurphy tweeted that MW officials are scrambling to get an eight-game schedule together to begin in October. Could be a reaction to Newsom easing practice restrictions. He listed Hawaii and Fresno as two schools that might not be able to participate in the fall (there was a third but I don't remember it, not us). Call me skeptical, but at least if we can get some serious practices in, then the teams can be ready when COVID allows.
Edit: third team was Air Force.

Watching those other teams play on TV last weekend, got everyone itchy.

Big10, Pac12, and MWC commissioners right now: Yep. They all quit on the season too early and now they are scrambling. I’ll take it though. 8 games of SDSU football is better than none.

Why is Fresno out? Wildfires?

Why is Fresno out? Wildfires? Not sure. Fresno County is in the worst state COVID zone, though. On Sept 3, the Fresno Bee mentioned in a story that players weren't allowed on campus for workouts

The problem is flip-flopping. Make a decision and stick with it until conditions change. The Big Ten presidents cited new medical evidence, but the only things that have changed in the past few weeks is that cases have increased in their own backyards, and the rapid testing systems become available. That's not a prescription for changing their minds. Whether they made the right call in the beginning is -- and has been -- open to debate, of course.

The State of Hawaii will allow tourists to come beginning Oct 15 if they test negative for COVID within 72 hours of arrival. Unless things change, the U o Hawaii should be able to play.

They're the only team already playing, with games scheduled Oct 3rd vs. Navy & November 7th vs. Army. The latter date would be a conflict, but I'd hope they could work around it. They would actually have an unfair advantage since they'd have already played a game & had held several practices before playing their MWC schedule.

They have more information re: myocarditis & now have daily testing available, which were 2 of the things they originally held them back. Their only mistake back then was assuming they wouldn't have more information & faster testing available & pushing the season to the spring vs. just back to October to begin with. They punted on 3rd & 15 rather than wait for 4th down.

But it's not only money. What about the young adults that work their butts off who have NFL aspirations? I know my own very competitive kids are showing a lack of their usual enthusiasm for practices right now since they know there are no games in the foreseeable future. Or the looks on their faces when I tell them that a major tournament has been cancelled. I will admit that it IS because of the money that these athletes get to play, so they are lucky in that respect. All the college athletes that I know personally (8 of them) are DYING (no pun intended) to be able to compete again. Unfortunately their sports don't generate the income that football does so they get screwed.

Hopefully Coach Hoke and the team have anticipated this and are ready to play.
There are a lot of difficult games in conference, without looking at any schedules, Boise St, Air Force, Wyoming, Nevada, Fresno St should be tough games this year.
Feels good, I hope we have Aztec Football soon!

I don’t think the Big 10, Pac 12 or MW will come out of this looking bad if none of their games get canceled or postponed. I think after this week a third of all FBS games will have been canceled/postponed.
But not having that happen they can say we took our time and did it correctly.

I think these clowns actually look much better than the 3 commissioners you mention. * Yes, laaztec, 8 games are better than none especially when you see teams like UFC, Navy, and Tulsa playing on TV and we're not! I can't wait to see our Aztecs play on TV! The one thing I really dislike is that our game with UCLA is off the books! What a bunch of xxxx! We should be playing them this season for sure! They owe us a home game!

I agree they owe us a home game but bet they won't schedule us for many years unless we can "sneak" into the Pac somehow.

Ooohhh, I'm not so sure about that. After all we are very close (little cost of travel) to them and make a very good opponent for them as a pre-conference team to schedule. So, there is always that. Plus, they probably still think we are an easy team to play and beat. We have future dates against them in 2023 & 2026.
