I'm cool with it. There is really no other viable option, and it should provide a way to expand the brand into LA. Other local stadium capacities: USD: 6,000. Cathedral: 5,000 Balboa: 3,000. TJ: 27,000, but that's not a realistic option with all the border craziness, a reluctance of many people (including me) to go to TJ especially at night, and it doesn't expand the brand. Assuming the State allows fans in the stands, you would have to use 25% - 30% of those capacities, at most.

112 miles from my house to the Rented Soccer Stadium. Not thrilled about the drive. Maybe the schedule makers would consider earlier game times?

There is a lot to unpack
"According to a school spokesman, playing home games at another local venue was not an option because Dignity Health Sports Park is the nearest available site that can accommodate the crowd for SDSU football games, which drew an average announced crowd last season of 29,896."
I can't imagine they picked Carson on the belief that there would be no impact to attendance. That would be the height of folly.

Per my GPS it would take just a little longer to get from my home in Riverside County. But I don't think the GPS understands how bad the traffic can be on the 91, even on a Saturday. I don't think I'm going to want to fight that LA traffic at my age. This years tickets will just be a donation to the Aztec Club. Next years tickets will probably be the same. See you all at the new Aztec Stadium in 2022.

If they weren't going to play at the Current Obsolete Stadium, where were they going to play?

Did they look into putting modular seating on the AZTrack or another venue? inproduction.net/news/the-modular-stadium-option/You have to figure you are going to lose 1/2 your base by doing this move to Carson, so why not find something closer that can seat 10-15K and keeo it local. Is it an NCAA mandate? I thought they were not enforcing the stadium size component of the FBS bylaws. Got to say, feel uneasy about this decision.

Didn't think they wanted to take on the cost of maintaining the Murph but even this took me by surprise. Feel sorry for those who go to the game. A 7PM start in Carson means you don't get home until 1AM or worse.

Piss poor planning if they all of sudden realized that they had to demo the Q to meet their goal, which after 40 yrs in construction I thought was a pipe dream. 1 week of rain is a month of delay, one dinosaur bone means weeks of delay, strikes, lawsuits....their timeline was miracle in making. Now with no Q it will most likely be 3 seasons in LA? Nothing like 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I'm sure the City Council dragging their feet on the purchase didn't help. SDSU & Clark Construction probably tried to be optimistic, but ultimately realized they had to do something to accelerate the schedule. Also, no games this year probably put a huge obstacle in revenue to maintain the current stadium. Sorry, it appears that SDSU never had any intention to play one more game at the Murph. Don't blame this on the city. Their promise was that they would keep the Murph functioning while building a new stadium adjacent to it. They lied. I always felt that was part of their plan that they didn't budget for.

Don't understand why they would go to LA. They will be lucky to put 6 or 7K in the seats up there and there is USD and Southwestern here in town to play at.

It's just one year and after that we are in a sweet new stadium. We'll get through it and come out better on the other side.
I'm glad we're knocking down the stadium now to be able to rid ourselves of the maintenance costs ASAP.

That may work for this season but next year you have to remember that they (USD & Southwestern)also have to have a field to play on Saturdays.

What a bunch of frickin wimps... I have driven many, many miles to Aztec games... this changes nothing, your either committed or your not I'd have to agree. Think of the families of the Aztec players who aren't from the local area. They will drive, fly, charter or canoe to distant San Diego county to watch their kids and support our program. Also, if you wear your gear proudly in LA, this is great marketing for the brand and good for recruiting. Oldie Out

Some positives -Media coverage in Orange County and LA (I remember UNLV basketball games televised in LA market in 80s and what it did for recruiting LA kids) -Tap into large alumni base in Orange and LA County for game attendance -Improved game day experience via cozy stadium supported by hard Aztec fans, students, players family and relatives -Upgrade recruiting by bring game day experience to them and selling brand spanking new stadium (something SC and UCLA don’t have)
