I'm cool with it. There is really no other viable option, and it should provide a way to expand the brand into LA. Other local stadium capacities: USD: 6,000. Cathedral: 5,000 Balboa: 3,000. TJ: 27,000, but that's not a realistic option with all the border craziness, a reluctance of many people (including me) to go to TJ especially at night, and it doesn't expand the brand. Same here. There is no other viable option as you said. This is our best and only one really. Dignity is awesome for watching a football game. I went to some charger games there.

So let's say SDSU discussed their options with the MW and their TV partners and the only option was Petco Park in San Diego County. Let's say after discussing things with the Padres who now appear to be a yearly post season team it was decided it just couldn't work.
So our options were:
1. Continue to play in SDCCU stadium until the 2023 season and spend roughly $30 million in continued maintenance. 2. Play one season outside of SD County, save millions and have new stadium in 2022 which starts making you money a year earlier.
There's really not much of an option.

This could be this season(fall) next season 2021 and with the slightest delay 2022 too?

Wonder if we will still have those great (MWC-TV) start times? 7-8-9 PM starts?

This season is already postponed and likely cancelled.. and if they do end up playing in the spring there almost certainly won't be fans, so that wouldn't matter and would be a major net benefit since we also wouldn't have to pay maintenance on the Q. Who even knows if we'll be allowed fans in fall 2021 too since we're in California

Wonder if we will still have those great (MWC-TV) start times? 7-8-9 PM starts? and this would make going to those games up there challenging. I'm normally a glass half full person and don't mind if we can get to our 2022 timeline and save money, but imagine having a 7-8pm start time game and then having to drive 120 miles home to SD? Cathedral high or Southwestern college would've had my vote. Oh well let's get this stadium built as soon as possible so we can get through this. Go Aztecs

After they told us during election how the plan was gonna go play 2 at and new stadium in 22. Now we are going to play in LA? Gives whole new meaning to moving the goalposts?

Piss poor planning if they all of sudden realized that they had to demo the Q to meet their goal, which after 40 yrs in construction I thought was a pipe dream. 1 week of rain is a month of delay, one dinosaur bone means weeks of delay, strikes, lawsuits....their timeline was miracle in making. Now with no Q it will most likely be 3 seasons in LA? Nothing like 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I'm sure the City Council dragging their feet on the purchase didn't help. SDSU & Clark Construction probably tried to be optimistic, but ultimately realized they had to do something to accelerate the schedule. Also, no games this year probably put a huge obstacle in revenue to maintain the current stadium.

I was under the impression we would be playing home games at Petco.

Go Aztecs Probably would have run into television issues with any venue in SD county that isn’t built with big productions in mind. Blue Jays had to invest in upgrading their Triple-A ballpark in Buffalo to make sure their games could be televised. Don’t know if there are similar issues with football stadiums, but I would imagine there probably are. Assuming this is a move to expedite the new stadium, there really isn’t a better time to do it than 2020/2021.

I was under the impression we would be playing home games at Petco. Wouldn’t work for spring football, with the Padres playing. Might have been able to make it work for fall with some scheduling quirks

I don't have a problem with it. I just look at it as the pill we gotta take.
Then again, I wouldn't have had a problem with giving the top-priority folks in the point system the seats over at USD for a season or two. They would have earned it (even if I am not amongst them), and it's such a nice setting (having gone to the Harvard-USD game there last season).

I wonder if there is a California "no fans" clause, in which case we might as well play the games at Southwestern.

I had to check to see if it was April 1 when I saw this press release. It’s crazy but good for me. I am going to buy season tickets. I'm guessing you'll have many seats from which to choose.

Perhaps they could explore options of acquiring some land in Carson near the stadium, and call it hmm, uh......SDSU North
