X had the lowest 4 day stoke total by 3 stokes over the entire field. It was just the staggered start where he was 7 back of DJ. X still had 4.5 million pay day, not a bad consolation prize.

He made a little over a half million in a weekend but because of the point system, he is making less than many who finished worse than him. Still big bucks.

X finished tied for 2nd. If he would have birdied the last hole it would been worth 1/2 million dollars. His drive on the 17th went into the fairway bunker, and his drive on the 18th went into the deep rough and he had to lay up. I bet his old man laid into him about that chip shot on the 18th that would have secured a half million had it was closer.

X is a grinder, great demeanor on the course, and is silky smooth in his mechanics. He will continue to perform at the highest level. I hate making predictions, but I will surprised if his career does not include at least a couple of majors.

I'd sure hope so (parents house)! How about being the lucky ex-teammate who got chosen to be his caddy!! Probably made $300k+ just yesterday, which doesn't suck!

Was great having Xander in the final pairing on Monday... LOTS of air-time!
Was interesting watching him hit a slight draw off the tee while everyone else was hitting a slight cut. Possibly trying to eek out every last yard to keep up with the long hitters?
Congrats on a great season!

Xander went from #11 to #7 in the world rankings after the Tour Championship. Since he had the lowest 72 hole score at East Lake, he is credited with a first place last week, (according to the world rankings). www.owgr.com/rankingNext stop: the US Open at Winged Foot next week. If he putts anything like he did last week, it should be a very good week.

A little disappointed Koepka's not playing, but should be an outstanding tournament. If DJ can stay this hot for yet another tournament that would be incredible. Would be a "Tiger-esque" stretch of golf. Definitely expect X to contend!

Arrrrgh!!!
Xander bogeys three of the final five holes to drop to +2 for the day and even for the tournament. In a tie for 9th. Earlier in the round, he was as high as third place. Ugh.
Course is playing tough today and most of the leaders haven't teed off yet, so we'll see where this leaves him.

Think it's pretty likely he stays in the top 10 & within 4-5 strokes of the leader, which is a perfect place to be.

Faldo said yesterday towards the end of the broadcast that the scores at the top of the leaderboard would not look like that on Sunday afternoon. We'll see, but I think that set up is going to cause problems for every guy before all is said and done. Any golfer that has the mentality of bombing away (yes Phil, I am talking to you) and hoping their short game will save them, is going to find that the rough is...well, rough. Even par at 27 holes in to this tourney is not a bad place to be.

Just like that, less than 45 minutes after your original post, Xander has moved up into 8th & the course is continuing to yield nothing. And that's before any of the leaders hit carnage central (holes 13-18). It's still early, but I'm predicting X ends the day in the top 6 (tied).

I may need to adjust my prediction & say he'll finish in the top 5 and only 3 out of the lead! Unless Reed or Thomas turn things around. Only 5 rounds currently under par today, and that may fall to 2 or 3 by the end of the day. Crazy. +6 could make the cut overall. X is lucky to have played early, and is sitting very well. A top 5 US Open payout on top of his Fed Ex payout - that wouldn't be a bad couple weeks for anyone!

He was quoted pre-tournament saying that he's not altering his approach for this set up. So, yeah, if he can hit enough fairways and get it close enough to the green when he misses fairways, he could be there on Sunday.

Xander is tied for 7th. +2 today, and even for the tournament. 4 shots behind the leader, Patrick Reed.
