They did just what we should do I believe. Right after their commissioner announced that they were going to postpone fall sports many parents of various universities wrote in to complain saying they wanted their kids to play this season. And, of course the athletes wanted to play also. Taking the proper precautions they didn't feel their children were at risk that much.
We could do the same, and have the athletes sign a waiver stating they would not sue the school if they should come down with the virus. Only those who really wish to play should come out, and those who don't can stay home.
* And, one more thing, get rid of Craig Thompson!

Only those who really wish to play should come out, and those who don't can stay home. The NCAA has stated schools can't ask athletes to sign C19 waivers. That was decided at the same time they decided to grant all fall sport athletes another year.

Just my opinion. Any waiver being "waived" in front of these young men should immediately be retracted and put in the paper shredder. These kids do not need to be potentially jeopardized in these trying times as this isn't there profession such as the adults in the major sports at the pro level. Again, just my opinion.

Many knowledgeable people believe Sweden did it right. Gents, like we have said before, you can argue the point either way. “Knowledgeable” people have come out and supported both ways. At this point I do not believe any of us are going to change the opinion of either side. Like all of you, I have my views and see both sides. I get the anger and opinions as some people are losing everything and livelihoods and businesses are being lost that people spent entire lives building working - they want to survive. Then I get people are worried about their health and believe people should stay at home until there is a vaccine. With that said, I do not believe we should ask these young adults to play sports until we know more considering we do not fully understand the long term impact. I am not talking about death as I don’t believe many are at risk of dying. However, I do believe they could cause permanent damage to their lungs, potentially experience blood clots, bring home to family, etc. We should not be asking these college athletes to play a sport for our entertainment considering all of the unknowns. I don’t expect to change the opinions of anyone nor will I change my opinion at this point. However, I will respect the opinions of everyone else and remember we all are just trying to get through this in our own way and dealing with our own set of challenges.

Ok, I will agree to that (no waiver), but at the same time there are many athletes who still want to play no matter what! And. no one is telling them that they have to play. So, if most of the team really wants to get out there I am not going to get in their way! Keep in mind that staying home will not do much in eliminating this virus no matter what we do. And, unlike the news media trying to make everyone think if you get the virus you're going to die is not factual. Because 97% or better of those who get it recover. But the media don't want you to hear that!

I can't really disagree with that statement. But many of these kids, based on recent incidents, seem more that willing to take those risks just to attend a party. It has been suggested, by some coaches of course, that the athletes might be safer under the watchful eye and discipline of the coaching staffs. Of course along with that goes additional testing.
Really glad it's not my call.

Eliminating the virus will only come from a vaccine. I care about others wearing a mask not because of deaths nor my personal risk of dying but because I want to enjoy live events, see friends, and allow businesses and to others continue to thrive. Some countries are playing sports with live fans. This is my hope until a vaccine comes. It isn’t impossible, if people try. A large percent won’t, so no sports and more deaths. Everyone here love sports so I tried that approach. 👍🏼 . focustaiwan.tw/sports/202007110017www.cnn.com/interactive/2020/health/coronavirus-us-maps-and-cases/index.html#!

nypost.com/2020/08/28/nevada-man-becomes-first-in-the-us-to-catch-covid-19-twice/25-year old Nevada man is the first American to catch the Cov19 virus a second time, a month after getting over it and following two tests that came up negative. "The 25-year-old man, of Reno, experienced a sore throat, cough, headache, nausea and diarrhea — and first tested positive for the COVID-19 on April 18. His symptoms had resolved by April 27, and he tested negative for the virus twice in May, the study says. Then on May 31, he sought treatment again for the same symptoms, in addition to a fever and dizziness, according to the study. The patient was hospitalized five days later as his symptoms worsened to include muscle aches, a cough and shortness of breath. He then tested positive for the coronavirus a second time. Another test revealed he had antibodies against the infection." If it proves true, it would be indicative of the worst possible outcome, not the reinfection itself, but the existence of Antibody Dependent Enhancement (A.D.E.), something previously only seen in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. If A.D.E. is an aspect of Cov19, it would mean that, no matter how minor your symptoms the first time, even if asymptomatic, each subsequent reinfection is worse as the virus uses the body's own antibody defense system against it. It would also mean a vaccine won't work-- because rather than making someone immune to the virus, the vaccine would make someone MORE vulnerable. And it would mean even children are susceptible to the worst of the virus. The implications of A.D.E. were discussed in WIRED article last week: www.wired.com/story/new-data-on-how-many-kids-got-that-covid-mystery-illness/My best friend works for the CDC. It was from him that I first heard of A.D.E., all the way back in early April. He told me it was the CDC's greatest fear regarding the virus, but that they were hopeful their suspicions would prove unfounded. Unfortunately, this Reno man could represent the first confirmation of that greatest fear.

Big 10 wants to play football because of the money. It's the money they make and the money that's generate in their communities because of football. They pretended to care about the student athlete's health because they were scared of the lawsuits if kids got sick. If they can get assurances that there will be no lawsuits even if someone dies they'll be all in.

Does MWC rethink playing this year now? They should, but don't think they do. They'll follow the P12's lead unfortunately.

It wasn’t until June and July that the test were much more accurate.

There were definitely a large number of false positives going on. To your point, we are going to need a larger sample of folks who are 100% confirmed to get it 2x and then consider the implications. I have not been reading as much lately as I previously had but I have to believe the number of people who are thought to have had COVID 2x is less than a handful of people. Does anyone know the number of folks who have been diagnosed 2x?
