As Clarence the Angel said "You'll see a lot of strange things from now on." This lunacy will not be stopping any time soon. China will be producing 15 STEM graduates to the US's 1 and we are going to be forcing our college students to take a class in racial and economic self loathing or victimhood, depending on the student, in the hopes of perpetuating the need for their particular brand of studies. Academia has spawmed many, if not most, of these Racist Marxist "Moonies" and is completely invested themselves. Do you know how many superfluous academic disciplines find a home raging against the machine of Orthodoxy?

Haha, how bout this STEM graduate...Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV? know what gets millions of hits in America? That's right, QAnon, Bill Gates wants to embed a chip in everyone and Dr. Fauchi and Bill Gates released the coronavirus on purpose so they could make money. You are right the dumbing down of America is in full swing, but you might want to look in the mirror about where the "Idiocracy" element is coming from.

know what gets millions of hits in America? That's right, QAnon, Bill Gates wants to embed a chip in everyone and Dr. Fauchi and Bill Gates released the coronavirus on purpose so they could make money. There is a big difference between people voluntarily taking in propaganda that is freely available, and the State mandating citizens to take in State sanctioned propaganda. There is a separation of church and state for a reason.

The starter of this thread has his arguments, I have mine. All I know is that I have been involved with the scientific field, in one way or another, for 40 years. I know a lot of highly educated people in the field, at least a couple names you might even recognize. There is not one I know that doesnt think our current president is an imbecile that has greatly diminished our standing in the World on a few levels. The explosion of conspiracy theories and general stupidness is not helped by his Jerry Springer approach to governance. "I love the uneducated".

Do you think the pod cast "journalist" isn't working with some woke educator to form the attacks on White and Asian parents? I've gone to YouTube and seen the plethora of idiot college kids being interviewed and they are ignorant on ice but also completely versed in the prevailing leftist talking points. Not buying it that they are the STEM students.

Yes the OP said we are losing our edge in STEM, then you said we are losing our edge in STEM. “China will be producing 15 STEM graduates to the US's 1” versus “You are right the dumbing down of America is in full swing” The OP says we shouldn’t be discouraging those who want to be Physicists by mandating them into racist propaganda classes before letting them be Physicists. Without rambling off a list of whataboutism, do you agree with that thought or no? I will say that if you are proposing the government censor QAnon, Bill Gates conspiracy theories, or Jerry Springer reruns, then I don’t agree with you.

Well, my own personal opinion is we are f****d in the long term, and perhaps the short term. As you know, every society in history has had a beginning, a middle and an end. We are obviously on the backside of our history. The signs are everywhere, you have your examples, I have mine, but the manifestation is shocking and increasing. I beleive that the confluence of Covid and the carnival Barker has shown us what we are currently....a FUBAR mess!

The funny thing about the CSU mandate as it currently stands is that “the requirement could be met by a traditional ethnic studies course or by a class focused on social justice or social movements.” I would LOVE to put together a class on social movements that could satisfy that requirement. We’d go down the list of socialist movements and their outcomes. Jamestown: almost everyone died, USSR: Holodomor, China: Great Leap Forward mass starvation, Cambodia Khmer Rouge: The Killing Fields, Third Reich: Holocaust, Zimbabwe: starvation, murder, and 100 trillion dollar bills. There is no way that class would get approved but would technically satisfy the requirement. Of course there is already an effort to amend the mandate to disallow anything that is not specifically an ethnic studies course.

It is, in fact, a function that they do it all too well.

The clueless leftist clown leadership and direction in Academia was noticeable but avoidable in my day but apparently you haven't had kids that have gone to college in recent years. Trump never had a filibuster proof Senate, so everything he has done in legislation is Democrat backed. He only had the House for two years and most of those were bedeviled by the Russia Hoax (By the way, weren't you supposed to regale us with the real facts of that "collusion"?). Biden, Pelosi, Schumer have held power in DC for decade after decade and it is now all Trumps fault! "I Love the uneducated."

I don’t like the terms “far-right” and “far-left”. They’re too vague and subjective. I think democracy makes America a worse place. America was very purposely not a democracy and seemingly every year it becomes more and more a democracy. It isn’t Jerry Springer and it isn’t SJWs. It is the increasing power of the mob that is doing us in. In James Madison’s Federalist Paper 10 the thinking about why democracy was so limited is explained. Individual liberty never survives democracy. Never. If you want a government that protects individual rights and liberties then you can have very limited democracy. Our country was set up in such a way that members of the House of Representatives were voted into office by those subject to conscription into government service. No other office holder was subject to democracy. Senators were assigned by State Legislatures and the President was assigned by Electoral College. There was a vote for President but it was completely non-binding. The Supreme Court justices were double removed from the influence of democracy in that they were assigned by the President and Senators who themselves were not democratically elected. Obviously we didn’t live up to the ideals set in the founding documents. There are valid complaints in the execution, but the system itself was ingenious. The government not only allowed for power hungry narcissists to occupy positions of power, it depended on it. The system of checks-and-balances doesn’t work if everyone is singing from the same songbook. It requires small, vengeful people in those positions to try and hold on to what power they have as a check on some other position’s power. The first major blow to our stability happened during the Progressive Era in the ratification of 17th Amendment. That made Senators subject to direct democracy. Currently there are efforts to end the Electoral College making the President subject to direct democracy, and abolish the filibuster in the Senate to make all proceedings majority rule. You have noticed the “dumbing down” of America. I think the mob has always been dumb. A human is smart, but people are stupid, and that is what is seizing the reins of power in modern America. We used to have a system run by experts in laws and we’re giving that up to be run by masses chanting slogans and cults of personality. I don’t know that Trump makes America better, but I as a father I want my kid to grow up in a place where his individual rights are as intact as possible. I don’t trust the GOP but I really, really don’t trust the Progressives pushing for everything to be subject to collectivist mob power structures. History shows where that path leads. James Madison knew where it went in 1787 when he wrote Federalist No 10, and the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. It is no less true today. If a candidate pushes for going down that path then I’m voting for the other guy no matter who he is.
