www.kusi.com/a-los-angeles-teachers-union-says-public-schools-should-not-reopen-unless-their-demands-are-met/If ever you needed evidence on the source of our national problems, here is another manifestation. From the article: "Their demands include implementing a moratorium on private schools, defunding the police, increasing taxes on the wealthy, implementing Medicare for all, and passing the HEROES Act, which allocated and additional $116 billion in federal education funding to the states. The unions demands also took aim at charter schools. The United Teachers Los Angeles union says these policies must be implemented on both the state and national level before reopening schools." The next time you hear an election ad in favor of a school bond implying it's "for the children", know you are being lied to. It's about the money, power and ideology and not necessarily in that order.

That is insane! If that is really accurate it needs a lot more attention.

As someone who works at a private school, who once worked at public, I can tell you they have no authority to put a 'moratorium' on us- we are a private business that does not answer to the state.
That being written- if the governor continues to ban private schools from returning then many will be shut down soon; I know of several that have already had to shut their doors. Public schools and their teachers get paid regardless if students are there, they get money from tax dollars and that won't stop coming in. Private schools get money only when parents pay, and most of them only pay if students are actually there. So if the governor forces us closed much longer then my bills dont get paid and I dont know how I feed my kids.
I want to work, all my colleagues want to work, our parents want to send their kids back, our school is small enough to practice social distancing; but the governor won't let us. Why not let a small school like ours have freedom to return if we want? I imagine the teachers union is in his ear fighting to implement policy that gets my work closed and puts my family on the streets (and don't think thats hyperbole- since I work for a private Christian School I have not been able to collect unemployment)
