The country was NOT in good shape. Remove the "economy" from the equation entirely and look at the rest of the puzzle. We have EXTREME racial division. We have the eradication of discrimination protections against the LGBTQ community. Now, today, we have this. Who was the country in good shape for? The people whose lives weren't affected by who the president is either way? Or the people that support these insane policy changes out of spite? When you run on a platform of hate, misogyny and bigotry, nobody is in good shape, man. Nobody. Well, wasn't there the lowest unemployment rates for blacks, women, etc....? You asked who it was good for, so wasn't it good for these groups in this category? Just trying to be fair. Unemployment numbers do not chart underemployed people and should be taken with an extreme grain of salt, given prior context and messaging. Black unemployment is now 16.8%. With regards to women, you're literally talking about 1% difference between 2016 and 2019. 1%. Is a 1% improvement in female unemployment worth American troops being killed by the Taliban? Is it worth rampant racism, 130,000 Americans dead from COVID-19 and a president who still thinks it will disappear like a magic trick? Is it worth extreme discrimination and prejudice, hateful statements against the gay community and QAnon conspiracy tweets? Is it worth multiple IG's fired, pardons handed out like candy as political favors, a disgraced Attorney General who undermines the credibility of our legal system and advocates for whatever the president demands? Think about it.

You would think this is from March. It's from today. There's no plan, John. None. Trump has a problem sometimes, with saying things that he hopes will give the American people hope. Like in the quote above, is a good example. He always gives himself an out though, where he says "I hope." You're rationalizating a blatantly horsecrap statement. If you start from a faulty premise, you'll end up with a faulty conclusion. There is no "hope" here. The president ended federal testing site funding. He thinks the virus will go away if we stop looking for it, stop testing for it. That's not an "out" to anyone who can look at the situation objectively or openly.

And with the reports coming out that antibodies drop off after x amount of time, a vaccine isn't going to solve the equation. He's mentioned on multiple occasions this same line of thinking. Yet, you're still here trying to rationalize and infer a conclusion that's not there. Why?

That's it. If he added, "because I believe we'll be getting a vaccine in months," then it would be a non issue, right? I'm not trying to rationalize. I'm just trying to be practical, and not be one sided. I want to remain open minded, and absorb it all so I can make a good decision for myself.

There's a tweet for everything, I have learned. He said the virus would disappear in April with the weather, for example. You're seeing one instance, you're missing the larger picture of a pattern. Moreover, Dr. Fauci said yesterday we are heading towards a pathway of 100,000+ cases daily. Do you see now where the messaging could be a problem here?

Trump just doesn't want to alienate his base. They tend to be less educated (not all...but I do "love the uneducated") and because of the wild wild west / cowboy ethic, less inclined to be told what to do. It would take a special individual to massage this base into doing what needs to be done collectively as we face the greatest threat in my lifetime. (other than getting nuked..but that's a concept ..not a reality like this). I can't think of a worse individual historically to be in charge of our future. Hopefully, anybody can see how he has completely screwed the pooch on this...and will continue to screw it.

the Country will change? Do you think we'll have a President that won't be as controversial as Trump, but the Country won't get back to it's historical lows in so many key areas? Can Biden do it? If Biden wins, will he be more Presidential, but our Country goes to s##t? This is what I'm afraid of, and many others are as well. It is hard to say exactly what will happen. With Biden we don’t know what we’re going to get. He’s basically the opposite of Trump in that Trump listens to no one. Trump thinks himself to be the smartest person in the room with a reliable gut instinct. Advisors who don’t agree with it are unceremoniously tossed under the bus. Biden was never the sharpest knife in the drawer and he’s a shadow of his former self. At this point Biden is mainly a name and face that people know. Biden policy will be entirely directed by those around him, and we don’t get to vote for those advisors. It was encouraging to hear him come out against defunding the police. There is at least one pragmatic voice in his ear.

So you are saying maybe trump should have run the white power video by someone before posting? Historically, if any president had done that during a period of racial unrest...they woulda been outta there!

You need to be educated on the particular issue at hand, which I'm trying my best to be. I know plenty of College educated people that are clueless about Politics and the President's positives and negatives, etc... Most College educated kids nowadays are taught the Liberal ideology anyway. They can be brainwashed just like any person without a College education, Trump supporter or not.

If there aren't any new system policies in place for this, after what's been going on, then I don't know what to say.

Or do you think a lot of it was artificial and not lasting anyway, regardless of being hit with the Covid?

John, this was not meant as dig against you or others. I have 2 very good friends who support trump. However, you have to be able to step back and analyze a personality when it becomes dangerous to the country. Even though I disagreed with Nixon, Reagan and Bush #2..I never felt that they could take the country down. I believe trump is well on his way to doing so. I think it becomes dangerous when, because you despise the other side so much, you turn a blind eye to the obscene and dangerous things someone is doing. Of course you are at least taking a step back.

It's true I only have up to a Junior College education, because I decided to take an offer I got from a minor league baseball team, and I do understand that part of the uneducated percentage is from people that never even finished H.S., etc.... Yes, I am absolutely analyzing. I have A LOT of questions now since I'm now stepping back and analyzing, and also because I don't have a one track mind anymore.

They want actual police reform in the sense of accountability, better training, communication and standards that go along with wearing the uniform, as others have echoed here.
