If you had A.J. Preller, you win. Padres trade for Oakland's Jorge Mateo, an 80 grade runner and one of the fastest players in the minors. Return is a PTBNL.

Also, is he more like the player that hit .230 in Nashville in 2018, or the guy that hit .289 with some pop in the launching pad that is Las Vegas last season? And...his primary position is SS. I would imagine he will move elsewhere on the diamond.

Think Billy Hamilton. Then he better make the last out in the previous inning, or he won't be starting on 2nd in extra innings. But yes, he could be used as a pinch runner in the late innings. Ironically, Hamilton was used as a pinch-hitter more than he was a pinch-runner.

Can they pinch-run for the guy who is supposed to start the inning at 2nd base? I suppose they could, but I honestly don't know.

Mateo is fast. Just not fast enough.

The Diamondbacks violated Rule 7.13, but I guess that means nothing.

The Diamondbacks violated Rule 7.13, but I guess that means nothing. It didn't to the umpires, or those who reviewed the play. Game over.
