My book had the Padres at +120 to make the postseason, which implies 45.5% probability, which, when you factor in the NL Central, gives the Padres right in the same neighborhood as teams like St. Louis, Chicago, etc. Arizona, by contrast, is +200. So the books seem to believe that the Padres are the 2nd best NL West team by a significant margin. I will be in LV in 2 weeks. I will peruse the books when I get there. Nice! How cheap is the room these days, if you don't mind me asking? Flying to SD 7/30 (flights were a bargain), staying at the Dana on Mission Bay. Can't wait to be back in Diego!

Honestly, I don't know, as I go 2-3 times per year and stay at the same place (Luxor/MGM properties). I just wait for the various offers they send me (all involving comped rooms). From what I've seen and heard, room rates are all over the map, and just about all are charging their "resort fees". Some restaurants are charging a Coronavirus fee as well, but hey--parking is free just about everywhere!

Keith Law on player pools:
“ The Padres are not messing around with their player pool, with 12 of their top 14 prospects on the list, along with their first pick from this year’s draft, high school outfielder Robert Hassell, who is just 18 years old. (They just signed third-rounder Cole Wilcox, who, as a 21-year-old, would seem like a good bet to take one of the six open spots left in the pool.) There isn’t anyone missing whom I expected to see here, and the inclusion of MacKenzie Gore, the top pitching prospect in baseball, and Luis Patiño at least opens the door for either to debut later this summer if the Padres are competing for a playoff spot”

When you factor in the depth that *isn't* on the 60 man roster, it's pretty crazy.

Tough start for Pham’s Padre career! He didn't handle the situation responsibly. Hopefully, he learned from it and will be good to go by July 24th.
