If you say his name fast enough, it sounds like "Yanni". That's good enough for me. Sign him up.

Yor Anei is originally from Overland Park, Kansas, Lee's Summit West HS [Mo.], so maybe a little California will do him some good. Unfortunately, per 24/7 his high school recruitment was purely Mid Western schools, maybe the coaches can convince him to look out West. In 2018, he was a three star recruit. 24/7: Yor AneiFor the 2019-2020 season, Oklahoma State finished a decent 18 & 14, with only a 7 & 11 record in the Big 12. Yor Anei played in all 32 games, starting in 27. He averaged 20.2 minutes per game. Oklahoma State 2019-20 Stats[/a]

Like this kid, but my question is why would he come to a place that already has a fixture at the 4 & 5, other than a shot at playing in the NCAA tourney? Seems like he'd want to go somewhere which is a little more desperate for a 4 or 5, where he could get a lot of PT & have a shot at the dance. If he was a sit out FR or even Soph transfer he'd be a no brainer. There's no doubt we could use him, but the fit from his perspective doesn't make a lot of sense to me so doubtful he'd even look our way. Even without the midwest bias.
If Matt was likely to stay in the draft then maybe....but we wouldn't know that until after this kid commits/signs, so...

He’s a 5, I’d take him with ease but doubt he’d go here

"Just an idea" 5-Nate,Yor ----- 4-5-KJ ----- 3-4-AG,Evans ----- 1-2-Seiko,Butler,Dinwiddie Something like this, but you get the picture not a bad core. *This along with 5 open scholarships in what will be a WILD incoming recruiting class (should be open game on NO sit transfers).

No doubt it would be great from our perspective, although AG is more a 4 (who can play the 5) & Keshad more a 3/4. But that wasn't my point. Look at it from HIS perspective - why come here when he's been a starter at Okie State? Again, if Matt was staying in the draft and/or if we still needed help at the 5 there may be more of an attraction, but as is why would he consider us? Or if he was willing to RS, knowing he could step into the starting "5" spot as a senior that may make sense. But as is....just don't see it. Next spring/summer will be interesting yet again. Same rollover as this past spring/summer, but with a much wilder recruiting base (w/o sit out). We added 5 this off season, so not worried about us doing the same next off season.

Think it is well worth it to find out if Yor has any interest in coming here . Adding him would sure give Yor and the Aztecs a very good opportunity to get to MM - his and our team's goal . Big reason he is leaving OSU is not being eligible to play in MM for 2020
Would feel very confident our coaches would find ways to make it a solid fit for both . He is known for being a great defender and shot blocker . Look at the great coaching job our coaches did with Yanni last year . We are all hoping that Nathan comes back strong but no one really knows for sure .
If he has a great year with the Aztecs and we have a good run - who knows if he decides to head off to the NBA after next season .Think he could be
Think you talk with him and make the offer and let him decide - instead of saying let's pass on him . Although I do think it will be very difficult signing him but at least make the strong effort to sign him.

He looks pretty good. Don't know if he would be interested but Dutch does a good job of mixing and matching the talent.

Am I wrong to think that only Nate can play the 5 right now on our roster? I just don't see Arop guarding someone who is 6'11 and Keshad Johnson is still an unknown -- I've heard about the potential but not counting on that until it materializes. Who was the last player who only came in during garbage time one year and was a solid contributor the next?
Before his injury, Nate was only playing 20 minutes a game. There might be a reason I'm not on the coaching staff, but I don't see how a guy that can play the 5 (whether that's a traditional center or athletic big man) is not the #1 priority.

Sort of mirrors the "Blindside" movie story-line with Michael Orr (Quinton Aaron) and Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) and her husband, Sean (Tim McGraw), take him in. The Tuohys eventually become Michael's legal guardians, transforming his life while he goes to Ole Miss. Which the causes an NCAA investigation into Ole MIss to determine if the Tuohys took him in and unduly influenced him just so he would play for their alma mater. I wonder if the Bishop Anei's guardians are OSU graduates? And what they have to say about the school he selects to transfer to.

KJ and Arop are both 3/4 with Arop as a better defender and rebounder and KJ has more offensive upside... Yor would be a perfect fit for this Aztec team s he could step in and play significant minutes at the 4 with some time at the 5 to spell Nathan... MM likely moves to the 3 and Jordan comes off the bench, but still gets 20+ minutes per game... E drunken has to remember that our 1/2 guys are not locked in for 30+ minutes per game like last year so to be seen if JS and or MM can get some time at the 2 guard spot...

One wonders if the African connection could have any bearing on the recruiting outcome. Both he and Nathan came late to the game of BB and maybe NM’s opinion of SDSU will carry more weight.

Tomiac is our backup 5 and AG can play 5-10 minutes there if needed, like he did in the MWC final. Jalen would have been a "garbage time" player had he not redshirted his FR year. How'd he do as a FR? Keshad is ahead of Jalen at the same points in their career, and could easily see Keshad having a similar season to Jalen's RS FR year. The only thing holding him back is depth, with Matt, AG and Schakel also at the 3/4.

You're probably right about Keshad, but I guess historically it's hard to get optimistic about a guy in his position. At least with Jalen he was a redshift. If Jalen had forgone his redshirt and logged Keshad's minutes I would probably have been equally pessimistic.

I havent heard any links to the Aztecs, or any list overall. Surely will be in high demand, and would like coach Dutch, Acker, and Dave V to make a case to bring him to the Mesa. Here's his career stats @ OKlahoma State: okstate.com/documents/2020/1/16//Oklahoma_State_Career.pdf?id=24275Soph Highlights: • Already eighth in Oklahoma State history with 145 career blocks, and his average of 2.27 per game ranks second. • Career average of 2.27 blocks per game ended the season ranked 11th among all active players nationwide, and his 145 blocks are the 40th most in the country at the end of 2019-20. • Recorded 13 double-digit scoring performances, and Oklahoma State was 13-0 in those games. • Owns 15 career 4+ block games, which already ranks fourth in school history. • KenPom ranked Anei 13th nationally with a block percentage of 11.8. • Second on the roster in overall plus/minus (+73) and is fourth in plus/minus per 40 minutes (+4.5). • NIT Season Tip-Off MVP after averaging 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game in New York. • Racked up three double-doubles, including 10 points and 10 boards in the Bedlam win over Oklahoma. • Has blocked at least one shot in 55 of his 64 career games.
