www.zagsblog.com/2020/07/25/tyty-washington-names-final-10/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tyty-washington-names-final-10San Diego State: “Coach (Brian) Dutcher is an amazing dude as he keeps it honest with you no matter what. I can tell the team is focused on winning when I watch them play. They always find ways to win whether it’s shutting their opponents down with defense or out executing them.”
Arizona State: “It’s right in my own backyard literally five minutes away. I’ve built a good relationship with the staff there. I can agree with everything coach (Bobby) Hurley has told me about the way they play because I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes at every game I’ve been to. He allows his guards to play and try to speed opponents up to tire them out which creates easy buckets. Auburn: “Auburn’s a really good basketball school and great environment. I’ve established a strong relationship with the coaching staff. And I enjoy watching them compete as coach (Bruce) Pearl lets his guards play. Creighton: “I love the way coach (Greg) McDermott spaces the floor and runs a flowing offense. And I love the confidence he gives his player to let it fly whenever open.” LSU: “Ever since I received an offer from them I talked with the staff every other day where either coach (Will) Wade or coach (Nick) Robinson which just shows how interested they are in me. Their style of play is good. Coach knows how to find mismatches all over the floor and utilizing his guards to mismatch opponents’ guards.” New Mexico: “I visited the campus back in February and it was great. The pit is something else! My relationship with coach (Paul) Weir and coach (Brandon) Mason is good. After visiting and watching a game the staff is really big on development and working hard.” Ole Miss: “My relationship with them are good as I talk with coach (Kermit) Davis and coach (Levi) Watkins a lot. I can tell coach really lets his team go out and play.” Santa Barbara: “My relationship with the staff is great especially coach (Ben) Tucker. He’s really a great dude and coach (Joe) Pasternack has always kept it 100 percent with me. He told me what it’s going to be, you need to want it. The scenery of Santa Barbara is just amazing. In the off season they breakdown strength and weakness which focuses on improving the weakness before the season. Their Facility P3 is amazing just seeing some of there players body develop from working out there shows it’s the real deal.” USC: “USC is a great school and I have a really good relationship with coach (Eric) Mobley beyond basketball. As far as basketball it’s a good situation especially for me as a guard because they have really talented bigs that help their guards look good. They really focus on developing their players.” Washington State: I have a pretty good relationship with all the entire coaching staff especially coach (Derrick) Phelps because he thinks he can beat me in 1v1. Just watching them play at the pace they play at is real easy for the guards to create for themselves and for others.

Pretty interesting comments here. I would have to believe we are in his top five along with ASU & USC. Dutcher will play the best five players even if it is two point guards. Ty probably has some defensive opportunities, and or he needs to share the ball more if he mentions honest and keeps it real.

Washington St made his list, but why would leaving teams like DePaul, Cal, Maryland or TCU lead you to believe he wants to play immediately and many minutes. Those are all teams he's likely to get more PT not less. Some of the teams he kept he'll be lucky to see the floor much for a couple years.

The 4-star 6'4 combo guard has 30+ offers and is going to further narrow his list. Future cast predicts Creighton and ASU ... who knows?

Auburn, Creighton, The Illini, mentioned Aztecs not in contention. And this late into the 2021 recruiting class, our Aztecs have zero commits, sort of disappoints. Especially coming off a 30-2 season, and Kawaii moving back home to So Cal, while SDSU retied his jersey at Viejas.

Do not think the Aztecs got as much Pub as many have expected from last year's great success/ victory stories . Not getting to play and getting a good run in MM . Also with the late NBA draft still not happening lost the good Pub from Malachi season and NBA status
So will need another very successful season or seasons to put us similar track for recruiting

Also with the late NBA draft still not happening lost the good Pub from Malachi season and NBA status So will need another very successful season or seasons to put us similar track for recruiting We got significantly more pub & exposure than several programs which have several recruits (i.e. DePaul), and as much pub as Dayton and many others who are also doing well in the HS recruit arena. I think this is more about Dutch leaning on the transfer market, and looking at 1-2 seniors potentially returning. A lot of unknowns, and most recruits haven't visited campuses, and that uncertainty goes both ways. Why look too hard at HS seniors you can barely see and who have had minimal exposure to other players when you'll be able to look at transfers who are more known quantities? If all 5 seniors leave we'll have a total of 4 upper classmen heading into 2022 - Adam, Nate, AG & Keshad. Dutch wants to stay old. I'd be shocked if he didn't look to add 3-4 upper classmen after the season via the transfer (or JC) market. Every year some people on this board get bent out of shape about how we don't have X# players committed by X date, and how they're not as highly ranked as Teams X, Y or Z. Yet EVERY YEAR we add the best body of talent in the conference & are among the better teams on the west coast. Relax... We still have the same excellent staff who excel at player evaluation & acquisition.

Which programs are still involved? Washington: “Illinois, Creighton, and San Diego State.”
Those are your final three schools? Washington: “No, just the ones I really talk to every day.”
So who else is in the mix? Washington: “Santa Barbara, Arizona State, Minnesota, Auburn, and Washington State.”
When will that be? Washington: “November 15th my commitment date is set.”
Describe your game. Washington: “I’m a bigger point guard who likes to create for my teammates and score. Most importantly, I think I’m just a winner who will literally do anything it takes to win.”

We have two really talented point guard/combo guards in our freshman class. We could really use a center, or a small forward freshman commit - not really a combo guard. I'm not sure how much we value freshman (at least for this year) with the no-sit transfer rule and the extra year of eligibility being granted to our seniors for next year.
